I seen the shot good and kinda sorta got it on film.. A leaf covered the point of impact. Ik for sure it was a kill shot... Makes it that much worst imo. I hate it but that's the way it goes sometimes I guess. Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk
Opening day success here in Oklahoma got a little 7 point cull that was a 7 last year too. Hot good meet in the freezer and a new set of rattling antlers. All is good :D:D
Sorry for the delay....trooper nephew stopped by as soon as I got home.. I had a moral lapse it was 5 minutes before legal shooting light and I have to take my Dad for his final radiation and to unhook his chemo tomorrow ... So I started to let the bow down... The bow is 10 feet from me when a fawn breaks through the hardwoods into the scrub I am hunting ...I pull the bow up...fawn doesn't notice (shocker).. I know Momma is coming soon.....I hear her call to her fawn....she breaks the hardwoods as I am untying the bow...30 yards, walking right towards me... I unclip the bow from the string...it's upside down...now I figure I have 3 minutes for a legal kill...sunset. I grab an arrow out of the quiver Like a ninja..she turns broadside at 15 yards and doesn't notice me...I am waiting for when she only has a single eye towards me for every move... I click the arrow on the bow...so far so good....I turn in the stand to square up for the shot..it's in the 40s, and my boot clacks against the stand..she looks right up at me.....I freeze Enter 5 minutes of head bobbing and foot stomping, but I do not move.....my arms are killing me...halfway through, i realize it is after legal shooting, but u don't want to scare her...so I wait... She eventually turned toward the field where her fawn went ...both unalarmed. I could have shot her at 20 yards broadside, but after sunset. If I wouldn't have let down 5 minutes early, I would've had an easy 15 yard quartering slightly away shot at the buzzer... I love this stuff...day one was a blast
Deer were up on there feet now there not calling for rain tomorrow might just have to go back for the afternoon again
Settled in stand for first illinois hunt this year. Feels good, need to draw some blood. Good luck out there!
Just got set up for first sit of year. Weather is pretty good for opening weekend. Pretty pumped Pretty sure already got deer in front of me, but it still little dark and might be some moving bushes lol. Too early in season and eyes haven't adjusted.
The sun is up and I realize what I thought was a deer is just some bushes lol good luck to everyone today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
