I put a marker where i got the arrow and i know the trail he went down pretty well i also put a GPS point where i last saw him when he ran off
Still up in the air, both are possibilities. My concern with tonight is dragging him out in the dark by myself, May be a little difficult
Well spent 12 very long hours in a windy stand. Saw one doe, tons of geese, several squirrels, a mink, a opossum, frog and 1 other hunter. Could have shot the doe but she was small. Back at it in a few days!
Tough call for sure. I can't leave one overnight here, coyotes are way too thick. What do you think of the shot?
I vote for going tonight.... From Joe: "No shooters yet, but definitely starting to pick up. Very active when the front was rolling through. Rain tonight means big boys freshening up scrapes tomorrow morning!! Should be a great last 2 days!!"
All day sit tomorrow. I know exactly where I'm going and if bucks are on the move, they don't stand a chance. Should stop raining right before daybreak, could be a perfect storm!
Did his sightings pick up any? Front has yet to push through, still along the Mississippi river. Winds still from the south. I think this weekend is going to be big around here, Saturday morning is looking perfect.
I've been thinking that every time go out, it's been slowly picking up though. Seems like it's been unusually slow start though. Especially being Nov As for the rest of my night was pretty uneventful. Kind of expected though seeing as got in with only hour and half of daylight and spent first 20 mins trying to get dog to go back home. Rio back to the truck was interesting though. Climbed down from tree and got to edge of field had to walk across and noticed something walking slowly across feild. Threw up binos and realized it was a skunk, right in the path had to go. So started making the long loop around the field and got close enough to ground blind I could see 2 or 3 deer standing right out in front of it feeding, if the dog woulda cooperated woulda had a chip shot as it looked like they were no more than 20 yards from blind. Oh well, also saw 5 more on walk back to truck and one that looked to be pretty big bodied and was solo coming across cut bean feild. Then as crossed the creek to get to truck I noticed another skunk about 40 yards away waking in other direction. Overall not a bad night bit coulda ended up being a smelly one if it was a little darker on way out ha. Sorry for the long read.
From Joe after I asked what he saw today: "Ya a few small bucks, a nice 6 pointer, and had a doe and fawn smelling my ever calm at the bottom of my tree."
Fair enough i know it's no trophy by this site's standards but boy does it feel good for my first buck!
