She flew out of the ditch. Luckily I saw her and my air horn made her think twice.

Don't know. Have not hunted in two weeks. I will find out Saturday.

I'm about 20 miles due west of Antigo.

Need to figure out what time to switch stands. Wind will be switching, going to see what the doe bedding has to offer

I switched stands. Didn't bump anything to my knowledge. Outside the doe bedding area, it is so thick back here now not sure how many shot ops there would be.

    Better cell signal though.

Lost a nock so down to 2 bolts.

I can't believe I haven't seen anything yet. I was thinking the last couple days would've been great but it's been tough going for me so far.

Starting to think it's just a bit early here yet. Small scrape from last weekend has tripled in size, wish I'd have brought a trail cam. Found another one hat has been opened up within last 6 days.

Wish I knew what the deal was with that buck this morning, no clue just how big he was, but he had more than average amount of antler on his head.

She only stuck around for a minute.

So I tracked blood down the next ravine, out to a fire road, down the fire road, across another ravine, crossed the road again, up a hill and onto private land. Biggest spot was where she stood after the shot. After that blood trail was decent but faded to nothing after she crossed the road the second time. She was meandering too, probably feeding so it couldn't have been that bad.

Shot was perfect elevation for a heart shot, just hit that knuckle. Perfect setup too, out in front at 15 yards. Bummed.

I suppose that's it for me this morning.

I just don't get this spot I'm in. Good deer sign, lots of acorns, fairly thick, lots of pictures of deer, but never seem to see many when I'm actually on stand. The only thing I can figure is they stay on the property to my north, few areas of woods and a river about a 1/4-1/2 mile away. But in 3 years I've only seen 2 bucks that acted like they were rutting....just mind boggling.....

Had a doe come through right after the buck, followed shortly after by a spike.
