Just double lunged a doe. She ran 20 yards, stood there and fell into an 8 foot deep creek. This is going to suck.

At least I don't have to blood trail her !

Had a really nice 8 walk by at 20 yards a half hour ago. Too bad Kentucky is a one buck state.

Sick to my stomach. Just had Lumpy, number one target at 20 yards. He busted me. Dammit. I'm shaking so bad

4 so far. Same little spike from the past 2 days came through, then a button crossed the path to my south. About 15 minutes ago a fawn started coming down the hill. Thought it was the button but no nubs. She stopped and looked behind her and I started looking for the buck. Caught legs moving and out steps an adult doe. The fawn comes out at 20 and stands browsing broadside.

The adult held back at 30 and started staring me down. Turned around and walked back into the cover. She blew once and then would again about 10 seconds apart. Never put tail up or stomped, meanwhile the fawn would stop and stare at her when she blew but otherwise didn't react. They finally just casually walked off back up the hill. Weird encounter.

I thought about shooting the fawn. I don't know that she'd survive a spike breeding her let alone a rut crazed IL mature buck

I have a friend of mine whom I am mentoring this year. He just picked up hunting. Dad with four kids and he doesnt have much time to hunt. He just arrowed a small buck about an hour and a half ago. Said the shot looked high and heard a "whack!"...arrow penetrated halfway from a quartering away shot. I think the deer is dead. We are heading back into track at 945...full two hours after hit. I am so excited and I pray we find this buck. You better believe I will be on my hands and knees looking for blood.

Just had my #1 walk out into the field. I gave him a few grunts and he looked up then ignored it so I snort wheezed and he turned and went away from me into the timber. ****!

Switched stands. Wanted to get on the bedding area, hoping the deer had already moved through. Get literally 20 feet from my stand and see movement up the trail. Train of turkey full speed ahead. Problem is they're heading straight into the bedding area. Unnock the arrow, attach to the pull rope and scramble up the tree. No sooner than I hang my bow and quiver I look over and a small doe came out. She milled around about 4 minutes and went back in. At least I know it's occupied.

Had a young 8 cruise through after rattling, but it's been slow otherwise. Hoped there would be more deer moving through these bedding areas.

My son had a great encounter with a 1 1/2 year old buck, but didn't get a shot. So Close. it was only 20 yds in front of him. I saw the biggest old nanny doe I have ever seen. Unfortunately she didn't take that last 5 steps into my shooting lane. All in all I saw 5 deer before the squirrel hunters came crashing through at 8:15. Gotta love public land.
