Alright, finally able to report in. Buck came in this morning at about 6:45am, and walked off on another trail. I couldn't get a shot... I let a few grunts go and bam, he was back and all over my stand. Came up and sniffed my ladder while I was standing just above him. Still couldn't get clean shot, after a while he started to briskly walk away. I RUSHED the shot and sailed the arrow right over him, ahhhh, he ran back into the original game trail he walked into before. I immediately let out a couple more grunts and he came back (How lucky am I ;)?). This time I put an arrow through him while slightly quartering toward, and whackk! If not for the rut being in full swing I don't think I would have gotten two chances.

Not done yet. I gave him about 2 hours, and then went in to track end eventually couldn't find the blood trail any longer. All of sudden I see head movement about 20 yds away (He was bedded up and close to expiring). Luckily I brought my bow and put another shot through the lungs and he was gone within in a minute.

My first shot looked great and so did arrow, wish he went down sooner but was ultimately able to get the job done. Definitely a learning experience and something I will never forget. My 1st deer/buck! Sorry if long, but couldn't hold back, been working hard to get one since the summer. Thanks all.

Each day is getting tougher to wake up

Hoping for a good day, still haven't decided on the plan yet. Thinking sitting my stand in the morning and moving back to the area I was yesterday for the afternoon. Moon is bright tonight, hoping I don't bump too many heading in.

    Good luck everyone

No deer in the fields this morning either. Seen one basket rack in a crp typed field. With that I've decided to hunt the area I have been. Really don't feel like pushing deer out this morning. May make a mid morning move depending on how th é first few hours starts. Half tempted to pull my lone wolf and set up where I was wanting to, briars or not.

Hanging around at the truck to make sure no one else shows up, they often arrive closer to first light. But looks like I'll have the place to myself again today.

    Ugh,

Got 200 yds from the stand and heard a deer snort and run a few steps. I stopped and waited, and it blew and heard it run. Started making my way and it had stopped behind an island if trees. It started a stomp and blow routine 20 yds away. At that point I just continued to stand thinking it is what it is. Got in stand and grunted a few times, sprayed a long burst of a buck bomb. Didn't hear it run off and it hasn't blown since. Hoping it walked away or something.

    Win some and lose some

I have been all set up for a while now. I already heard some POS shoot 30 minutes before legal shooting hours.

Aside from the deer blowing earlier. Absolutely perfect morning. Just need a doe on the right path today.

Calm as can be, everything waking up.

That moment as the suns coming up and you hear a soft scratching of bark followed by a loud rustling of leaves and you think to yourself oh goody the squirrels are awake!

I'm in the same stand as last night. Had a borderline shooter come in last night. Much better morning stand so I'm hoping.

I will get one before seasons end. High 55-60, too warm and not going home for a turkey.
