    Man. 15 more yards closer and I would have had thanksgiving dinner taken care of. Had 6 turkeys coming in and then turned away. Really wishing I wouldn't have talked myself out of buying that turkey call. Always wanted to shoot one with a bow.

    Well went home and took a 2 hour break. Showered, grabbed my turkey call and back in the stand for the night. Good luck to all who are hunting tonight.

    The same thing happened to me my first season 2 years ago. I had my climber but forgot my harness. I made the decision to not even risk it and ground hunted. Turned out that was the only encounter a had with a buck that season. A basket 6 point came in behind me as I was nestled in a deadfall, using it as cover, and I couldn't turn around to get a shot on him.

    Good call on staying down my friend. Always better to stay on the ground without a harness! Not worth the risk.
