I'm sure with the right seasoning you could make it taste good...

I'm just kidding, don't think I could ever bring myself to shoot a dog for just being a dog. Hell my wife doesn't even like me shooting coyotes...

    VA-just turn the squirrel into a shish-ka-bob...

I just got a text that they somehow found my cousin who is a half mile away. I would mind a coyote this morning. It would be a little retribution. Plus i have never shot one.

Drawing a blank thus far, it's rare to not see anything from this stand. Trail cam had showed movement up until 11. Years past 8:30 to 9 has been golden, but with corn and beans still in it changes things up a bit

Had one doe come running by being chased by a dog.

Well, not much this morning. 1 doe, and a fork horn. Getting down soon to go check my cams.

It's starting to get quite breezy now.

I might get down and go hang another stand on another property.

Looks like an all day sit is underway. Not worth it to drive the 100 miles to come back in 4 hours, trail cams don't lie so maybe today is an off hour movement day.

A bad day in the woods is better than a wasted day on the couch

I had just finished packing up the video camera, put the quiver back on the bow, hooked the haul line to it and gave one last look around. I see a doe pop her head over the rise to my right. Aw sheesh, I take the quiver off, unhook the bow and nock and arrow. 2 more young one follow her. They crest the hill and are heading my way. It's so windy now that branches are breaking and falling. They're hung up on the hilltop. Then turn and go back. In 2 minutes they're back. They're looking, waiting, thinking. I think the first one in range gets the shaft. The wind is in my favor...YES...then they turn and walk away...Noooo!!!
    Oh well, maybe next time

The deer must have a "best times to avoid travel" app. It's still so thick they could have seen me before I seen them hours ago

I'm off tomorrow and a frost advisory for tonight. Shoot one late and let it hang overnight is good by me.

    That was interesting.

Just had about 8-10 turkey about 20 yds. Then caught a flash of grey out of the corner of my eye. Thought they kicked up some bedded deer and down comes a young coyote attempting an ambush. Went to draw on him and he hopped back into the thicker stuff, he was only about 8 yards, must have seen me raise the bow. Turkeys went the other way. Hoping this little coyote is hungrier than he is smart and tries to come back through.
