Shot buck 10/31 right before dark. 11 pointer. Shot at 6-8 yards away. The 9th or 10th buck I'd seen that day. Lots of smaller ones. Saw two bucks chasing does that were nicer bucks. Does weren't interested yet. This guy came all alone. Started across the finger I was sitting in and starting working up the finger away from me. After about 5 steps he turned around and headed right towards one of my shooting lanes. He stopped looking up at me while I had turned. I then let the arrow go.

The arrow stuck in him so I knew he was hit as I saw the red light on nocturnal traveling with him. I waited in stand for 20-30 minutes listening. Started looking for blood after calling a couple friends to help me track. Found no blood at all. By this time it was dark. Eventually found the red light busted off with arrow and deer was dead roughly 75 yards from stand. The lighted nock really helped find this deer.

We could have found him really easy the next morning, but not seeing blood had me worried. Not seeing an arrow leaves you with a lot of questions also. I probably would have backed out without finding the arrow and waited for morning. I would hate to do that because the only time we have done that the deer was completely eaten by coyotes.

I shot this buck on Sunday Oct. 28th @ 8:34am, had to wait to get him back from the butcher to put a tape on him. He is my first buck with a bow and couldn't be happier with him. I just hope I did the score right on him.
