Thanks Melissa, they have until today to reply. The more I think about it, the more it does not make sense to buy this house, but mama won't change her mind. We're both in our mid-50's and have arthritis. In a few years, we won't be wanting to take on those stairs to the 2nd floor, which means another move. I'd much rather have a ranch, but she won't hear of it. Oh well, I guess when that time comes I can build a man cave with bedroom in the garage and the issue of the stairs will be hers to deal with on her own!:D

The seller said she does not want to come down from asking price because of too many sentimental memories there. My response was she was taking the memories with her so we would not be willing to pay for those on top of the value of the house.

 

Sounds like she isn't ready to leave the house herself.

How big is a six car garage? We have a 30 x 64 pole barn/garage and the realtor listed it as a two car garage. LOL

 

No counter offer. Seller says she has too many fond memories there to accept anything but asking price. My response was her I wouldn't buy her memories, she'd have to take them with her. Didn't help.

Things often have a way of working out. We just accepted another offer on this place. Buyer has cash. Good news is that the closing is in less than a month... bad news is... less than a month. I'm still four trips away from being out of here. eeek

 

The market is not that strong. But the seller has never sold a home before and she's in her 70's.

We bought a brand new house today. Yard isn't even a half acre and will take some getting used to, but the house is brand spanking new with everything the wife wanted.
