Continuing from my post on my new rest a QAD. I could not figure out why my arrows where canted to the left on my target. Fustration set in so I took it to the shop to have it tuned. After an hour of the shop worker moving my knocking point and rest back and forth the arrows would not give me a bullet hole when paper tuning. The shop worker asked one of the lady owners for some advice. She said put the odd vane down. We both looked at each other and said ODD VANE DOWN. Low and behold BULLET HOLE. I be damned. I never shot with the odd vane down, but what the hell it works.

As long as the vane isn't hitting the cables, riser, or rest I guess you're good to go but I have never heard of odd vane down either. Is everything setup correctly? I wouldn't think it would matter if it were but, hey, if it works it works.

Not really sure why that would make a difference?
I shoot a whisker Biscuit and shoot both odd down and odd up....same result...

As long as it clears the rest without contact is shouldn't matter. Maybe you were getting vane contact with your cables. By rotating it down it could have helped clear the vane that was hitting the cable.

If your bow is shooting nicely I wouldn't "rock the boat" by changing anything, but when using a WB you want that cock vane up because those black bristles on the bottom are the support bristles for the arrow, and are stiffer than the surrounding brown bristles.

I have never shot an arrow with the nock rotated to cock feather to anything but up. Maybe rotated slightly for clearance.

I had the same problem too on my Tribute when I put a QAD on. I had Cabelas put it on, put it just did not work right. I took to the local bow shop and it got better, but still not right. I finally turn the arrow so the fetching v was point sideways towards the cables. The fetching was striking the cables. I got the idea from my book The Bowhunter Guide to Better Shooting. He said spray your test arrow with Joc itch power. That it will leave a fine layer of dust on whatnit is hitting and that is what you adjust. I turn it and it worked.

It was probably just a clearance issue with the rest or cables. I won't matter what direction the vanes are in.

I am gonna have to try this. I put QAD ultra on and keep getting a left tear. I even French tuned and still tear left. I didn't think I was hitting my cables but it is close...
