I was much more conscious of my scent control when I was younger. Scent-free showers before every hunt, storing my clothes in scentproof containers, getting dressed in the cold and not driving with my hunting gear on, wiping/spraying down before every hunt, only wearing rubber boots, chewing Gum-O-Flage, and generally not eating "stinky" food like garlic or onions before a hunt. So yes, I have altered my diet in some way to help with scent control. Or at least to make me feel like I was giving myself an advantage.

Now that I'm older, I find that most of that stuff isn't worth the effort, and I'm not as obsessed with needing to kill a deer or a specific buck each year. I like to get dressed in my garage, wear my non-rubber hunting boots, eat some Casey's pizza, and go hunting. I have a lot more fun when it's not so complicated.

This is what being in your mid 40's is like.

So, you lost the big gum-o-flage sponsor..

    100% agree though...and at nearly age 60.

Gum-O-Flage went out of business, sadly. I liked those guys! The Honey Alfalfa flavor was pretty good too. If someone brought it back, I would definitely use it again. I chew gum a lot when I'm hunting anyways.

I've killed more deer when I'm running late to the stand, just off work, sweating like crazy and just got done drinking coffee than when I take my time to control my scent. Seems like every year, I kill a deer on a day I wasn't really prepared for.

one time, looong ago I had all the neat Scent Blocker stuff, pants, coat, mask, gloves, kept it clean and from a hot dryer ready) ... I killed deer
no longer have it ... got tired of the damn dryer use all the time (yea yea, its works, dosnt work, I dont care, dosnt use it any longer) ..
I launder with Sportwash (using it since the early '90's), its the only hunting clothes wash I'll ever use, hand wash in the shower, hang out side to dry, and weather permitting, I'll hang my clothes outside prior to the hunt... I use the HS air tight green zippered clothing bags to carry it, same for my boots ... all are stored in large plastic containers, I have 4 lg for the clothes and 2 xlg for the boots(4pr, 2 per container which I drop 4 earth wafers in with them) ... I still kill deer
I still use the wind, if it isnt right for the location, I have one someplace that is ....
