Yup....acorns it is. my dad puts out "deer" corn in MA, and the bucks have been hammering it in daylight until the acorns started dropping, now they won't even touch it or go near it. same thing with his friends food plots. all they want is acorns.

I hunted for the first time this season in MN and our's started a month or so ago too. I have been putting out stands/blinds and checking cams in the meantime. I sat last evening for the first time since I had today off with my buck decoy in a bean field that had just been cut (yesterday) at the edge of a big grassy draw and woods and nada. So windy I couldn't hear much either though. I typically hunt the edges of the woods and draws by the fields until the very end of October, beginning of November here because I just don't see the action and don't want to burn those spots out. Some year, I am going to start more actively scouting in the early summer months with cams and catch that early season buck, but for now with kids and a busy work schedule, I just wait a little while longer! :D Good luck!

Joe, if it makes ya feel any better....I'm still waiting on the season to open here in lower Alabama. Heck, rut doesn't even start until late January here but I'll be in Texas by then. Keep at it, I know you will tag out!

It just rained, and it's supposed to rain tonight into tomorrow so i went and pulled the card in the trail cam. He is still showing up, but now of course it's earlier, i turned him more nocturnal. The good news is the doe are still showing up and going through at all times of the day, and there are fresh rubs and scrapes everywhere. I'm staying out till i come back from Illinois, 2nd week in november!!

Have a good trip my uncle is gone for IL. I might save up and go next year. I have not gone back to my stand yet. I have tried a few spots but mountain bikers every where. I think im going to bring my chair out and sit by a fallen tree. Its hard to hunt that way with a bow but don't want to pressure my stand.

Hunt long evening sits on active food sources. If you can't find the active food source, I don't know what I would do.
