October 1st!!

Who else in Illinois is going to be in the woods October 1ST? Its a Monday, but I work 2nd shift so I'll be in my stand bright and early!

Either of you hunt public land or private? And any big deer on cam?

 

I will be in the stand that morning. Will probably be in the stand almost every morning that entire week! This is the first year I have property close to the house so I can hunt anytime!

 

Ill be out there after class im done by noon everyday. so i can get alot of afternoon hunts in on public land while others are working

 

oly, have you researched public ground anymore? What are your thoughts?

 

Yeah ill probably make the trip to kickapoo/middlefork. i made the drive and its not that bad. and i saw alot of deer running around so i got excited. and i just have to get the free parking permit from online.

Same here. Just went to 2nd shift this Spring, so this will be a new experience for me. I had better luck with morning hunts last year anyway, so I'm hoping it's the same this year

 

I will be on stand in Michigan on October 1, cannot wait.

 

What hours does your shift run?

 

I will be all week, luckily I bought a farm with woods that backs up to 200 acres of woods that I have permission to hunt. The wife will only be out that first day.

 

I will.. I live in Michigan and myself and 3 friends every year all take Sept 29th - Oct 6th off. We hike into Manistee National Forrest and camp out in the woods for a week with no water, electricity or bathrooms and hunt opening week everyday... It's the ultimate Deer Camp. I love it and can't wait!

 

I can't get out on Monday, but have Tuesday off, so you better believe I will be up in the stand Tuesday AM!!
