Does anyone have experience with the Octane Hostage Pro Rest? I read about people that love them and those that hate them.(Usually the haters are the ones with experience with the older Hostage rest.
I don't have any experience with it, but are you considering buying it?? I was too until i heard about the QAD rest.....it will be on my new bow. PS - I am changing from a whisker biscuit.
ive got it on my admiral. I think it blows , i dont think im the most picky guy in the world but man does it make a loud noise on draw when the carbon arrow slides across the whiskers. and ive only had my bow for a month or so and the right side whiskers are wore out for some reason ? not sure why ? ive probobly got 300 shots through it and decided to put it through paper again to see how it was "after stretching a bit" and i couldnt get a bullet hole i had to put 1 new whisker on the right side then after just a couple shots i was tuned back in. Which brings me to my question for one of you fellas in the know.should these all be contacting my arrow ? seems like if i was in the tree and a bit off camber my arrow would settle over to that side a 1/16-1 1/8? i think im gonna spring for a nap freedom rest - piss on this thing ! UPDATE - got new whiskers today for mine and the noise is GONE and im back to being a happy camper with it.
I have been shooting one and I am having contact issues with my 4'' helical feathers and it is noisy drawing my Maximas across it. I am going to do some tinkering to get the contact solved.
I bought some new brushes today -the noise is gone completely - im happy ! TRY IT this is turning out to be a nice rest.
I just mounted one on my Alphamax. It's quiet and very accurate. I've had none of the problems I've read other had. I've shot 200-300 arrows and show no wear on the brushes. My groups have noticeably tightened. I'm tickled with this rest.
I've a Hostage Pro on my Admiral and there is an original Hostage on the Tomakt I used to shoot and I've never had a problem with either of them. I've heard some people say the brushes wear out much too quickly, but I haven't have that problem and I think Bowtech will replace the brushes for you if you call them and tell them of you problem. The '09 Hostage Pro comes with spare brushes as well.
From my experience with them, they are great. If I was building a straight up hunting setup, I would have one without a second thought.
