I agree with avant.. I've shot a majority of my deer out of my Summit Viper.. This past November, my buddy was climbing his tree and had a giant 8 chase a doe right to him as he was climbing it.. Obviously the quieter the better, but I also feel a little noise isn't the end of the world, and if it is an issue you are too late getting there!
A couple things: Don't overlook how you approach a stand. You may need to cut a path, so you can approach an area from downwind and unseen. Stay out of the woods as much as possible. Just remember that you can't hunt a stand any time you want - only when conditions are right. If you're consistently jumping deer in the AM, you might only be able to hunt it in the evening. Good luck!
LOL, the feeling is all too familiar. I've been doing the same thing the past 3 sits in the stand. Since I only have 9 acres, there's certain spots that deer regularly travel and since I've killed 2 deer off the property in 5 years I've just stayed in the same spot. Although I've passed on a lot of opportunities on young does and countless 6 pointers, I've missed out on opportunities on mature does and a few really nice bucks. The biggest mistake I made you ask? Staying in the same spot and hoping deer walk by me rather than going to where the deer go. I've found a nice spot for next year and I'm picking up another stand for another. Lastly, I've decided to put up a ground blind, something that I haven't hunted from in probably 15 years.
