When you interview anyone on TV you let them finished their thought. Weather you agree with it or not. Cutting people off makes one look like a putz. Al Gore was a putz in the 2000 debates because he never let GW finished his thought. GW even pointed it out, one of the reasons GW won IMO. When you ask a question give the person the respect to answer the question. It's the Gentlemen thing to do
I agree with this. Plus, it's the president. You respect the principal in school. So you respect the principal of the US. I don't agree with alot of what he has to say. But give him his time.
You do realize his show is dubbed the "No spin zone", don't you? If he had let Obama pontificate, the interview would've been about 2 questions. I think he showed him the respect you should show anyone who beats around the bush, professionally.
He did the interview, IMO it wasn't his show. I don't think his show airs at that time? Honest assumption.
Another natural assumption would be ......that Bill was granted the interview, based on his reputation. Why else would you get Bill to do the interview? Did they think he should just drop everything that got him where he is.....just because it's Obama?
As I stated by me on page 1 of this thread. There is a difference between keeping him on track and rudely interrupting him every 5 seconds. . To acquire high ratings.
Why would the POTUS want to give Bill higher ratings? Why would Bill risk never being able to interview the Pres., again? You guys need to step back, holster your biases and think about this, logically. If you think Bill was rough on the Pres., you obviously don't watch Bill very much.
Exactly and no problems get brought to light, it's about improving his wow factor. The big deal is Jobs, why not ask "Mr. President what are you going to do to get companies to invest in America again" "Mr. President companies are reporting the healtcare bill is going to cost them more money, which is going to cost more jobs. Should we not look at the bill again?" Until the media put's there Ideologies on the back burner, we have little hope of solving any issues. I am talking both sides here. Bush never got a fair shake from the media either, it was more about making him look dumb. For Obama it's about making him into a socialist.
Rough is fine if he's not rude. I would prefer he ask tough question, just don't be a rude putz. It takes away from the interview. You are correct I don't watch Bill, I have a life
Not sure what biases your talking about with me because I agree with 99% of Bill's positions. I'm as conservative as they come. Actually, I think you need to drop your bias against Obama and understand the position he holds deserves more respect IMO. Admittedly it's a difficult balance, but he needed to keep Obama on track and be considerate at the same time. You compare how he was with Obama to how he does his show. Apples to Oranges. I just don't think Bill represented the conservative movement very well and appeared like a ****** bag.
I'd just ask that you go watch the interview again. Do you honestly think Bill was rude? I honestly think he was soft. If they'd wanted someone to kiss Obama's ass, they wouldn't have granted Bill the interview. IMO, they were expecting worse (and he disappointed).
When you ask a question.....and the interviewee does NOTHING to address your question....but, instead, starts to pontificate, it's the DUTY of the interviewer to keep the interviewee on point. Bill's reputation is that of one who doesn't allow the "spin". And, they knew exactly what they were in for. Don't wanna get interrupted? Answer the question. You wanna pontificate? Get Chris Matthews or James Carville to interview Obama. Either of those choices are Liberal "yes" men.
LOL... coming from someone that doesn't exactly have a soft reputation on this forum. Face it Jeff, your not exactly middle of the road in that respect. :p Before you get upset Jeff. It's a joke.
I am going scouting for antlers and possible deer beds in a few minutes. It is my wish that I seen Obama's likeness in the clouds today as I wonder the woods. My life would be fulfilled and I suspect I may drop over dead with nothing else to strive for in this world.
I LOVE this stuff......now this is politics baby!...The British Parliament. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsAa9VmwOaI
Is there any question which lever Matt pulls, when he enters the booth? I'd say Bill followed precedent, pretty nicely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7ic-4lPbyM I still say Bill was soft. And, if everyone will remember, Bill asked GWB about being "hated", too. I also figure Obamam knew what he was gonna get.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luA0AMP51Gc&feature=related
We need to dude in the wig to monitor debated here!!! If you know anthing about English law, those debates are worthless. Again nothing gets solved
