So I took my son to college yesterday. His school is about 110 miles away. On the way home it took me about an hour and a half to travel 90 miles back. And about 3 hours to travel the last 20 miles!!!!!! Seems as if President Obama made a stop in a town called Seneca Falls. Which so happened to be in line with my way back home. I have NEVER in my life seen anything like this. I hit a line of stalled traffic that I couldnt' believe. I didnt' know what was going on (thought bad accident). So I turned around went 10 miles out of my way to try a different route. Get to that highway and same thing!!!! Re route again to NYS thruway and ...... same thing!!! To make a long story short, EVERY single road/highway in a 15-20 mile radius was blocked off and shutdown. I can't even imagine or begin to guess how many cars were stopped and backed up. Seems like half the dang state was at a stop. I guess at that particular time he was on the road in his bus going from Seneca Falls to Syracuse then back to Auburn (where I live). After over an hour of having my truck in park and not moving a single foot on the NYS thruway, traffic finally started to crawl. Can't even imagine how far back the thruway cars must have been stacked up (I heard to Buffalo). Then I finallly get off the Auburn exit and I hear that he is spending the night in the Holiday Inn here !!!! Another absolute fiasco. Looks like a warzone around here. I didn't think I was ever going to arrive home to be honest with you. Snipers on the roof, dogs sweeping everywhere, security like he was the predident or something. Absolutely craziness here. I might walk to work this morning instead of trying to drive anywhere.
He's supposed to be at Binghamton U speaking around noon time today. I work just down the road from there. My luck traffic will be all backed up as soon as I get outta work. Protesters are already out there making signs out in our parking lot.
Dude....here is my FB Post yesterday afternoon ... "Thanks Obama... If you don't make me sick enough, now the roads are all closed Cuz you are spewing your crap at UB and I am stuck in the traffic jam of traffic jams..."
I stayed in all yesterday and today to avoid any traffic jams. I didn't need to see him, his bus, or the brigade anyway.
He came to our town couple years ago and one of my friends somehow got stuck in the middle of his convoy. Apparently he pulled out out jus as they were leaving town and all he saw was cops everywhere trying to flag him down. He had no idea what was goin on but once they stopped him he got questioned for about a hour about what he was doing. He thought it was funny, they didn't. We live in pretty small city and the airport is pretty small and about 10 miles outside of town. Sounds like they block stuff off a lot better now.
It just amazes me how so many people can be inconvenienced because he wants to visit a few towns in Central NY. Close half the state. Lock down thousands upon thousand of cars and people. Don't worry about peoples schedules, work, getting home to family, medical emergencies, small children, out of gas, hungry, etc.... As long as there is nobody within 20 miles of you when you're driving in your bus it's all good!
even if you don't like him, that's neat. Although I would agree with you that he may not have actually worked out... Did you smell him?
