I think we are trying to avoid that area becoming a hotspot for terrorists to launch attacks on America. Sure we can ignore what goes on in the rest of the world and I would like that, but, do we make America a safer place by just plussing up our borders and focusing on us? Those terrorist attacks will continue and they'll find out kink in the armor.

I agree we are broke, spend way too much money in too many wrong places. I agree we can't be the world police either. However, I don't think we can be complete isolationists either. The Syria conflict has escalated to a point that I not sure we can ignore it.

England and France are with us and are going to probably intervene more as well, FWIW.

If it was only that simple...maybe it is and I just guilty of drinking the Kool Aid.

We ignored Germany in the late 30's....

And we dealt with them once Japan forced our hand. Our country is broke and still fighting wars from 10 years ago. I don't see a need to jump into another one.

How many people died before we stopped them? Going in now is a pre emptive measure to stop further bloodshed.

The only reason for jumping into war at this point is to try and stimulate the economy.

Also, in the late 30's and early 40's America was supporting Great Britain and in doing so was recovering from the depression. We did not have a direct conflict with Hitler until Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and declared war on America. THEN and only then did Hitler, believing America could not fight a war on two fronts, declared war on America. Much to his dismay, we went after him before we went after Japan who dragged us in.

It would be ours either way (according to my theory) not intervening now and costing some 100 lives. May be 10,000 lives 5 years down the line.

I would much rather America come back and protect America, I am not for wars. I just think wars are the only way to keep our peace.

Its a win win for us, we should arm both sides equally. If it drives the death toll up in Syria we win, its just that simple, I'm for humanitarian aid also, maybe some blankets with a sprinkling of Small poxs. :)

    God Bless America!

And since its Friday and I'm in giving sorta mood I think we should help as many people as possible, when these opportunities arise,
The Animal Rights groups are always looking to expand the Grey & timber wolf range, I say expand it, stock Syria with every one we can spare, grizzly range is becoming saturated in our North West, how bout Syria?
Prison over crowding, heres a solution, since the cost of living is so low in Syria lets give say anyone with over 10 years on their sentence 10 grand and a brand new start in a new and exotic place, 10 grand would put them in the top 10 % of wage earners, out of poverty, racism and real chance at turning their lives around.

Hey when life gives you lemons, be sure and stock up on Vodka!

Shaping up to be a classic proxy war just like all the others we have been fighting since the end of world war ii. This won't be the first time we have armed al quada affiliates. We armed them in Afghanistan in the 80's when they were fighting the Russians. Not saying I support any of it but it the same old same old. Europe and the US back one group. The Chinese Russians and their allies back another. We all pump weapons in and let them do the bleeding.

I just want to get this right? Obama supports taking away my scary black gun that shoots one bullet at a time all while supporting giving machine guns, grenade launchers, surface to air missiles and who knows what else to civilians in another country? I'm just trying to wrap my head around that. You don't trust American citizens with guns, but you are willing to give them to Rebels and terrorists. Makes perfect sense to me.

There would be something to this point, if the country weren't so bankrupt already. But spending more$ that isn't available really means more debt or more taxes.

Yes that is true, but every administration since the mid 20th century has used war to stimulate the economy.

We need to actually break something or kill someone if we want to go to war. Pick a side. Pick a target. Tell civilians they have 24 hours to leave. Eliminate target. Rinse and repeat.
