As if Operation Fast and Furious didn't kill enough Americans, Obama has decided to begin arming the Syrian rebels. Any wagers on how long it takes those weapons to end up in Afghanistan or somewhere else to kill Americans?
Nothing surprises me anymore with this clown, I'm sure it's not all his decision but If something goes bad. the media won't blame him.[ Yes, I'm being nice by calling him that. ]
The same rebels that are allies with our 9/11 nemesis alQ? Nice. http://m.usatoday.com/article/news/2075323
Even worse is John McCain cheering him on. And I also heard of plans to relocate Syrian refugees to U.S.
I don't care who is supporting what on this, it's wrong. Then, when the weapons are used against Americans, I can pert near guarantee you Obama & his cronies will try to spin the blame off on someone else.
I thought the same damn thing this morning. From Regan to Obama it has never turned out for us when we "arm" rebels. This will bite us in the *** for like the 50th time. Gary
I don't like it either, but what is the alternative? Russia and Iran are heavily supporting the regime. China has also voiced support. Atrocities are happening to innocent people. It is now a regional conflict affecting More than just a civil war in Syria. Nobody wants to put boots on the ground. As much as I would like to be a Libertarian, I stray when it comes to their isolationist attitude towards foreign policy, but maybe that is the correct course of action...I just can't get there. What is your solution?
How about we arm our struggling citizens, like our war veterans, with a quicker turnaround on their disability claims? Take that dang money we used to fund those anti-American sons of a guns and give it to Americans.
So if we ignore the conflict in Syria, that will somehow eliminate the bureaucracy and inefficiencies that is inherent in our government and their programs? I am not questioning the legitimacy of your concern, but I don't see it as a solution to Syria. Maybe ignoring it altogether is the answer, but I am afraid that by doing so, it too will bite us in butt down the road.
Many of the rebels are Al-Qaeda or Al-Qaeda sponsored. Others are the "freedom fighters" that previously flooded Iraq to fight against the allied (American) troops there. Why would we want to put guns into the hands of people who have already demonstrated their desire to kill Americans? Russia supports the regime because they buy their weapons. China, the same reason. Iran supports them because they allow funds to flow from Iran to terrorist groups in the area that are fighting with Israel. Even if the regime is ousted, the next one will be another Islamic extremist group looking for someone else (America) to fight with.
Obama just nominated a lawyer with no CIA experience whatsoever as the #2 position. That is a stupid move in my opinion.
He is going to flood as much of government as he can with people who support his agenda. The fact that they have no background or experience is irrelevant to him.
I was using that as but one example of how we can better use our money to take care of Americans instead of shipping it off 12,000 miles overseas. I bet if one did a study on when we used American money to fund rebels that we would find out that it is a crap shoot. Meaning, we have no control over much at all in manipulating foreign issues when we know those same folks hate Americans. Now I am all about trying to fight for those people who are being slaughtered overseas and need a unified fighting force consisted of several nations, but the US is flat out broke and many of our citizens struggle ever day....so how in the world do we continue to fund this crap?
Why do we have to police the whole world? There has been fighting in the middle east since the dawn of time. Thats not going to change. We need to sit this one out.
I don't disagree with anything you said. The reality is that we are pretty much hated by that region regardless, some just tolerate us more and pretend to be allies when all they are really doing is playing us. But this conflict is spilling over into Jordan and Lebanon as well...in a way detrimental to us. Will we be better off 5 years from now by staying out and therefore most likely allowing Assad stay in power and creating the refugee problem these other countries are having to deal with? I have no idea. I dont see a road to a good outcome...just trying to figure out what course is the lesser of the evils. I am just curious what you guys offer as an alternative.
