The season started and I shot a nice jake with my bow. Anyone else have any lucky with their bow?

Good stuff, congrats! I haven't even been able to get out at all yet and its not looking too good either for the rest of the month....HUGE BUMMER and I'm super upset about it, love chasing me around some thunder chickens!

Anyone have any suggestions on some public land that's decent turkey hunting? Looking for a place to go for a weekend or two.

Depends on where in NY. I have a place in corfu NY that is a park but all you need to do is ask for a permission slip and carry it on you during season.

Its 90 mins or so from there... But believe it or not getting permission for turkey hunting is easy compared to whitetail.

I'm just going to have to go up and start asking for permission and see what I can find.

last night just before sunset my daughter and I were in the back yard lobbing a few arrows. birds were gobbling their heads off from all directions. wish they would change the season to start mid April.. may is too far away!!
Then right at dark we had a young buck walk out on the lawn still wearing both antlers.. this is the latest I've ever seen one still carrying both sides.

yea a mid april start date would be great in NY. Even if they just started a week earlier and fininished a week earlier it would be a big improvement.

Believe in Climate change or not, but 20 years back we werent greening up till the third and forth week in areas i used to hunt. Now the first week of the season its already leafed out.
