Man, I hope they do ... that would be amazing ... the NYS DEC still shows the tentative date of the 15th, but I am really liking the article you posted :D

I'd give up the front two weeks to gain Sunday hunting and a week on the back end of the early season.

I always head to the northern zone to hunt early, usually we can get out up there the last weekend in September. With that said, the hunting is MUCH better in the southern zone, and I hope they figure this out quickly. I also hope if they do pass it, it won't affect the tail end of the season.

It better not affect the tail end of the season ... the article just talks about adding to the front ... let's hope it'll be 2 additional weeks AND Sundays stay (for Ben ;) )

Haha ya its not easy to wait for the 15. I also heard they are opening up some public westchester land which should be loaded with deer. Most of them are a15-30 min drive from the city compared to 2 hours upstate. The only good thing about a opener that started on the 15 was the chance to go Salmon/steelhead/brown trout fishing the weekend before that.

Not really a concern for me on the first two weeks. I like the ability to hunt right up to the regular firearms season....just don't want to loose those days.

That would suck, I'm usually a patient person. That would throw me over the edge having to wait!

    Haha i hear you.

@Preacher Tony. I see you live near buffalo, you should try the steelhead fishing during Columbus week end. I go to Salmon river in Plaski NY that weekend.

If your willing to make he drive to salmon river and get a hotel sure y not :D. I am only 16 but i have a really good spot at the town center where we take turns fishing. I can tell you a great rod and reel combo for under 170$ which is what some of the rods cost alone.

You are talking fly rod combo, no doubt. I need to get back into trout and salmon fishing ... used to go to Olcott pier and fish for kings years ago...fished for Cohos at the mouth of the Niagara and Lake Ontario...

Actually i am talking about a spinning combo. I was thinking about using a fly rod for a little but spinning is easier. You really should start back up its so much fun. Pier fishing is nothing compared to the river. If you want the combo just shoot me a pm.

They want to open it on the 1st but they also want to stick a 4 day muzzleloader season and a 3 day youth gun season in there too!
