Lately ive been thinking about planting switch grass on my property, i wanna create more cover/ bedding. I already have 2 old hayfields that arent cut anymore. How and when would you guys go about converting this to a plot of switch grass?

There are many ways to get this accomplished, but first you want to kill everything growing there now. Especially if you have fescue, which is very hard to kill.

I'd spray with round up as soon as everything is green and growing. If there is enough trash burn the field after it dries out. Wait till it greens up again and hit this fall with round up again. Then Plant your Switchgrass next spring.

Here is one link. Googhle it and I'm sure there are others.
