X2. The NRA goes to bat for hunting and funds many pro hunting lobbies and organizations.

Seems that Wayne the fear monger is at it again. Apparently President Obama has a secret, covert mission for his second term. He is coming after all our guns! It's a huge conspiracy! Please join the NRA as this is our only chance folks.

My goodness, I am as conservative as they come and just cant buy into this load of crap for one second. My first thought is; if Obama is so intent on taking away our gun rights, why the heck would he wait for his second term!? He may not have a second term. Crazy! Look, I would be the first person to volunteer to help him pack his bags and move out of the whitehouse after one term. Belive me, I am not a fan, but this fear mongering is meant to do one thing, continue to make the NRA very wealthy. And so far, their marketing plan seems to be quite successful.

For anyone who owns a firearm, Wayne Lapierre is your best friend. Period.

He has stood at the front of this battle for many years. I applaud him for his dedication. If it wasn't for him, this country would be much less free right now.

I am constantly amazed and saddened by peoples lack of understanding of the second amendment and why it is so vital to our freedom.
I heard a liberal saying just the other day; "Do they really think a bunch of Bubba and Earls could stand up to the most powerful military on earth?"
I had to laugh at his totally missing the fact that on April 19, 1775 - a bunch of bubbas did exactly that and won the freedoms we now must maintain for our children.

Lol. I wonder how Bubba and Earl would handle a few missiles fired from Blackhawks? For the average citizen to even think for one moment that we might have to raise arms against our own military is comically absurd, even for the paranoid. The idea that private citizens would have any chance of winning that battle is beyond absurd. The battles of 1775 were fought with patch and ball. Just an FYI, our military has made a few advances in technology since then. That battle would be won before you knew it started. :D

Then why are we still in Afghanistan? Why did it take so long in Iraq? Guerilla warfare is just as, or more, effective than a highly technological military.

Without getting into the rest of the thread I agree with this. For one, the military is mad eup of "us" and when I was in the military there was no order on earth that would have made me start attacking US Citizens on US soil. Civil war is a different story as that is citizen against citizen but the govenrment against citizen? Not buying it.

Let me ask any police officer here: If the "government" ordered you to go out and collect all firearms from US Citizens, and to do it by force if necessary, would you? If the "government" wanted to disarm its citizens would you go along with that?

Someone, anyone, give me a scenario where the armed forces and law enforcement forces would just go along with disarming all the US citizens.

With all that said I just renewed my membership in the NRA. I hate all the crap they send you in the mail but my neighbor was changing his membership form "life" to whatever the one after that is and he wanted to renew me on his form so I agreed. I don't think the NRA is a bad organization (not saying anyone else does either) but the wave of mailings they send me to get more money is ridiculous and that is the main reason I didn't renew in the past.

The NRA does a lot of good things we never hear about too. Something I didn't realize before. Some of you know my daughter has been in 4H air rifle. The NRA donated all of the air rifles and there are quite a few and some are very nice.

If they were to solicit money from me for programs like that I would be much more likely to give to them than to give it to them because they are telling me the government is coming to take all of my firearms.

I would hand in my gun and badge before I would be a part of that Bruce.

My Brother in-law is a sheriff deputy and on the SWAT team, He has been shot in the line of duty 3 times. and everysingle time it was by a small handgun. I discussed this topic with him last night at dinner, and he agrees with me it is not the banana clips or large caliper guns that do the most damage in law enforcement, school or work place shootings it is the small easy to conceal handguns that 90% of these thugs, lunatics use.

As far as the mental defects and felons, I don't know about your state but no-one with a mental health or felony record is allowed to own, posess a gun in any shape form or fashion. But guess what they lay their hands on them all the time, because they don't care what the law says they are going to do what they want. Outlaws are outlaws for a reason. You can establish all the gun rights and laws all you want, if someone wants something and has the means to get it they will. It is not worth it to me to take things away from law-abiding citizens because of the criminal element.

We've had two "active shooter" at schools in the past 10 years in my county. We are the only county in this area (which is amazing) to have an active shooter go into a school. One was a middle school kid with a hunting rifle and the other was a 20 something male with a rifle he purchased that day. He shot two shots at a teacher before his weapon jammed. Thank God his rifle jammed or the day would have been drastically different.

Because to be politically correct, we were not allowed to go in with the force we are capable of and turn the desert into a parking lot. It could have been over in two or three days. Period.

Great post Bruce. If the NRA would stop with the paranoid crap and focus more on the future of our shooting sports, I would buy a life membership.

Thanking God is probably quite appropriate for that gun jam.

But, we would use that force on our own people?

NO! We wont ever use any force on our own people, that's my point. It's a crazy assumption. But, according to the paranoid gun rights folks that are going to fight to the death, the government is coming after us with full force to take our weapons some day. Thtat's why Bubba and Jim Bob want the fire power to fight back. It's lunacy if you ask me. Lunacy that is created by the fear mongers that profit from it, and driven by the gullable that believe it.

There are things I like about the NRA, and things I don't. This video is an example of a thing I don't like. A conspiracy theory about a conspiracy? Really? People buy this stuff? I'm pretty sure he's regurgitating a lot of the same things the NRA said before the last election. I was told I would have already lost my guns by now if Obama was elected. Wayne has become a politician, and uses similar tactics. Ugh.

This reminds me of the Sportsmen for Bush in '04. Fear is powerful.
