and just around the corner for others, do us all a favor and check your safety equipment to make sure everything is in proper condition. Before you crawl up in the stand, ensure everything is tight. I checked my safety harness yesterday and there was a small tear in one of the leg straps. Would it have failed? I don't know and I don't want to find out so I went and purchased a new harness. Also, last week while checking on the stands I found a couple ladders on the portables and worked loose and one strap on a stand had started to dry rot. This is all common sense, but sometimes we get in a hurry.
I was looking in Bass Pro yesterday and some of those hunter safety safety systems have gotten expensive. I bought the HSS about 3 years ago, and i highly doubt i paid anywhere near what they are charging now. These are worth their weight in gold, and no doubt a necessary investment, but doesn't it seem like they are a little over priced?
Did you ever notice that pretty much every hunting show is sponsored by HSS? They have to pay for all that advertising somehow. I own the HSS pro vest and like it but I will be looking into the Muddy when this vest is done.
Yeah i have noticed that, and you make a great point about paying for it in the price. Also i feel like, due to advertising from HSS, a lot of the hunting shows are pushing tree stand safety harder then ever. Which is a good thing. BUT im not gonna even get started on the BS infomercials that most of the hunting shows today have turned into. Do any of y'all use your HSS for hanging lock on stands? The wrap around double clips is one upgrade they have done since my model HSS. When hanging stands I use a rope that is the same concept (hold you to tree while allowing both hands to be free), but its hard to beat the comfort of the vest.
Yes, I should qualify the fact that I think it's great they promote tree stand safety as much as they do. It just comes at a price.
