I want to get him in the field after some real deer next season... what's the best way to find land to hunt in IL... not sure I can afford a lease unless I go in with a few guys... and I certainly can't afford to buy my own land at this point... so I'm considering taking him with me to some outfitters down south of here...

worthwhile option?? or are there better/cheaper ways???

For a youngster, an outfitter may not be a bad idea. My dad took my little brother to an outfitter in southern indiana to get him his 1st deer a few years ago (shotgun). I am proud to say I was his "guide" for his 1st bowkill though, on our own land..:D Hope you find some areas to hunt, good luck to him, have fun
