2009 will mark the first year of me doing the majority of my hunting alone. My dad is battling some health problems that will keep him out of the deer woods for the first time since 1970. My uncle gave up hunting after last season, saying he just didn't have the desire to hunt anymore. My sons are 13 and 12, and are bowhunting for the first time this year.....so I will have some company at times. But basketball practice, homework and dare I say....girls will all cut into their time in the woods. I'm going to miss the strategies being discussed in the truck, the post hunt recaps and the celebrating after a successful hunt. I know I'll have all of that with my boys and I'm very grateful for that, but I'm also pretty down that the other chapter is closing. Now I'm the "old timer" at hunting camp.
good luck with you dad, cherish the memories you will make with your kids - i understand exactly what you saying - once again best of luck
You can look at It this way Dave, one chapter slightly closes but another opens Immensely and many memories will be had the next how ever many years. Best of luck with your dad and his health.
Same sentiments as every one else.Very sorry to hear about your dad and hope he comes through his health issues! You are fortunate to share the hunting experience with your boy's.I am sure that will bring you immense satisfaction.A couple more years and your dragging days will be over!
