Yup, after much deliberation I got me an iPhone 4. I haven't had much time to mess with it, getting the resort ready for the season and all, but I like what I see so far It really is amazing what you can do with these smart-phones. The GPS app I down loaded seems to work better than my Garmin handheld. Plus I can take geotagged photos to aid in scouting... the list goes on and on. Here's one cool thing I found. For less than the price of a cuddie card reader, I ordered one of these AirStash readers. Not only will I be able to view my trail cam photos in the field with my phone, but I can then share them back at camp with my brother (on his phone) and my dad & cousin (with their laptops). Should be cool. I'll write up a review when I'm done putting it through the paces.
Uh oh:D My wife wants one, I don't want the $30/month extra:D I'm afraid if I got one (or a Droid) in my hands, I may not care as much for the extra $$. Enjoy the new toy.
I saved some cash from a few jobs I did this spring, so I'm going to pay our savings for a full years worth of the data plan. That's how I got it by my budget queen of a wife. Yes to the mph. Not sure on the 3 digits, but I'm guessing it does since there is a flight tracking option.
Check out the APP Star Walk I also write applications for IPhone, so if you have any ideas let me know,
Germ, I don't know if it's possible or not, but I'm looking at using a phone mount to video this year. Is it possible to have an app that would let you run video off both lenses? That way I could get a kill shot and hunter shot at the same time Or, how about an app that taps into the gps and NOAA and records the hourly weather stats of my hunts? Then incorporate a hunt journal to it with sightings, time in stand, etc. I'll keep shooting my random ideas your way
Let me check the API and see if I can do it!!! Never though of trying it. For the second idea, I am working on it
On the card reader... Can you actually download the photos and put the card back? On everything I have seen you can only see what's on the card. Which is a great step in that direction, but I would like to be able to get my card on the way to my stand and download the pictures while waiting so that I can put back a clean card on my way out... but most importantly... angry birds.
Northernair Lodge Our Facebook Page My wife and I manage the resort for the owners. All the fun parts of having a resort without paying any bills Yes, you can view or transfer files. You can even stream movies off the thing. check out the link in my OP. The text I bolded is exactly what I plan on doing.
Man... you've become a mega techie. It's amazing that something so small can do so much. My brother had to go take some classes just to learn how to use his latest cell phone or whatever he has. I use about 50 minutes of airtime a month. I use google maps on the computer when I'm heading out. Admittedly the trail cam sharing features is alluring.... but then I remember I don't have any trail cams. LOL I did shave and shower this morning. That's about as hi-tech as I'm getting these days. LOL Congrats on the new toy.... I know you'll enjoy it.
Alright, ordered a few more toys for this fall... 1st, a Bow mount from the guys @ Insane Archery And then I found this iPhone mount from Xshot so I can have both landscape and portrait shots. I'll be testing them on a target by next week Oh, and Germ, Star Walk is awesome! Now get back to work building me my apps :D
