    Hey Guys,

Here is the follow up to my "October" short film, creatively called "November." Check it out and let me know what you think! This one is a little quicker pace and was filmed and edited to reflect that, because we all know how frantic and exciting hunting in November can be!

that is a great video. The time you put in on all the different shots is great.

Not bad, Cody. I liked it.

You don't have to wear orange while gun hunting in Virginia?

good stuff! if you make a December video, perhaps you should use a winter song, like "momma got ran over by a raindeer"?

Great vid! Even a non-hunter can understand better that it isn't always about the kill. Reminds me I need to pay attention to detail, "the little things" and embrace them.

I look foward to the next short film!

Although I am still not sure about that song selection? How old are you?

    Thanks everyone!

Vito- Orange is required during the gun season. Foolishly, I took off my orange beanie and stuffed in my pocket after I shot the buck, and forgot to put it on. It was a careless decision because I am safety freak, but (and not that it's any consolation) my brother who filmed the recovery had enough blaze on to been seen from outer space.

I shot this buck with a Youth model .260. Yes, a youth model. I first got this gun when I was about 8-9 years old, and here I am shooting my biggest buck ever with it at 22 years old! I have almost out grown it, but it's small and I enjoy it's compact size and how easy it is to shoulder. I spend so much moola on bowhunting gear and toys, I have never upgraded my rifle.

Heckler- There shall be no hating on Joan Jett! Seriously though, I love the song for this particular short. It perfectly fits the tone and pace I envisioned when I wanted to put this together. I was actually reminded of Crimson and Clover the night before I started putting this together. I had all but decided on a song, but I wasn't 100% happy with it. Anyway, I was watching Sons of Anarchy last week and recognized this tune and thought it would be the perfect fit! I took it and ran with with it.

Gotcha. Not sure on the laws in Virginia, but in many states it is illegal to possess a firearm in the field during firearm season without wearing orange. Might consider taking that part out of the video. Just looking out.

Seriously, The vid turned out great. Just giving you sh*t about the song for no other reason then my screen name being Heckler. :)

I am more serious note. I did see you are using a Canon 7D to film. What are it's limitations if any over a more traditional camcorder? Just trying to figure out what is actually best for me for my next upgrade.

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I love SLR film, but if your goal is to film hunts, then an SLR isn't for you, especially if you are going to film your own hunts. I know SLRs are becoming increasingly popular, especially in the hunting industry, but the operator needs to know their limitations. It seems like every hunting show now has someone filming with an SLR with the ISO cranked up and the shot over exposed as if to say, "Hey! Look at me! I can film with an SLR!"

The only reason I film with an SLR is simply because of the better footage quality over my standard HD camcorder. The 7D is great for b-roll and interviews, but it really lacks the zoom to film your hunts. Fortunately, with my lens and the area I hunt, rarely do I need to be able to reach out past more than 50 yards to film an animal. You could buy a bigger zoom lens, but that's going to cost a lot of cash.
