The plan worked perfect! I just didn't do my part, I keep waiting for a better shot.

So I set up between the bean field and a creek that runs beside it. 10 yards from field and 40 yards from creek crossing. At around 6:45 I see the buck that is running with the big boy come down to the creek. Then he shows up in full velvet still, then he goes to the nearest brush and shreds his velvet right off in front of me at 45 yards. At this time 4-5 bucks come down behind him, then they all jump in the creek and start drinking. After 5 min. of that they start heading to the field, but they walk down the thickest trail in front of me at 30 yards! No shot. They make it out into the field and start feeding. At this point he is 45 yards and the closest buck is 30 yards. So instead of taking the shot, I wait because they are slowly working there way towards me and I 30 Min. of light left. But while all this is going on I got a button buck beside me that wont stop looking at me. He decides to walk right up to my tree and look right at me and BLOW! The whole field cleared. Most of the deer came back out before dark, but he never did. I could hear him in the woods walking around and trashing trees, but couldn't see him. So the whole hunt was ruined by the dumbest deer in the woods! Go figure.

I did get some really great video of him for 5 min. at 45 yards

I had a good 10 minutes of shaking tonight, then I was able to calm it down. It sure feels good!

Yea, it's tough with that many eyes to deal with. It must have been exciting though! Are you hunting him tomorrow evening? Earlier you mentioned, it "was not what I thought it was going to look like". What did you mean ?

Yup when he walked by I could see the blood running out. He lost almost all of it in about 15 minutes

He was a no show tonight. The field is large, so he could have came out some where else. I could only see about 50 yard's from the stand. I did pass a 130 10 pt. I feel like that was a bad decision. Walked by on a wide open trail at 35 yards.

Nah, I think you did the right thing. Hunt/scout the same way until you know for a fact the big guy has changed patterns. Then, you can shoot the 130 given the opportunity.

That would be a tough one for me. But you can't shoot the big guy if you shoot the small guy.

I'm going to go back and start siting about 200 yards out until I find him again. I allowed to shoot 2 bucks there, so if I get another chance at a big deer I'm going to take it. A 130" buck around me is a big deer.

Been bear hunting with my wife since Wednesday, with no luck or sightings. Patterns changed drastically in a week. Had a big bear hit Wednesday night but that doesn't do us much good lol

Haven't had anything good on camera in a while, but I'll start worrying at the end of October. Looking forward to getting into the woods and actually hunting myself this weekend!
