I am new to turkey hunting but am fully engulfed in it and read and learn all I can. I am limited on hunting this year due to my recent marriage and little girl to Sunday mornings till 8 am . Last week I went out to a new spot on our club and heard over 100 gobbles from about 8-10 birds. Called to them and two down the hill were hott. After 30 min they had quit gobbling but a bird in front of me got hot. So I moved hoping to get on the new bird. well not 20 minutes later I hear a gobble from were we sat first with drumming. So I moved and it cost me. On april 1st, went to same spot and decided to sit in one place until time to go at 8 am. At 720 a hen came in a started walking around. At 730 the Tome went crazy and began gobbling at everything. At 745 I decided to change plan and move toward a bird cause even if he was walking at me he would not have made my time frame. I jogged 100 yrds toward him on a loggin road after I set up I hit him with a loud cackle and then soft yelp. He boomed. Then popped out at 20 yrds were he stayed. So moved and got him. Don't always know when to move just got lucky today.
Where u hunting at man? I up around choccolocca management area. Heard a lot of birds, but no luck here yet.
