I did read an interesting opinion about Tressel keeping his job. If he takes the fall for the university (we all know he wasn't the only one that knew about this), they could keep him for saving their butts. I could see that happening.

I read it a few days ago, but figured the thread would go about like this, so i refrained from posting the link.

Scott, you are a good dude and have great knowledge of college football, but at some point you got to admit their is some smoke.

Just for S & G's Bryant Deny had over 93K for our spring game, how bout ya'll.....

Tressel's inaction speaks volumes. Failing to act until caught is really bad. He clearly thought out the possible ramifications and CHOSE not to do anything. Then people with money/prestige/power somehow someway cleared the path for multiple athletes to participate in the bowl game even though they were admittedly guilty. That crap was unreal.

For sure rules were broken, I never said what Tress was not wrong. It is just irritating to no end that it all started from some 18 year olds selling stuff to get cash for tattoos.

Something like 45000. Not bad for a rainy day, the day before Easter. The crowd size was a little bit of a let down though.

That was all the NCAAs doing. tOSU did not ask for them to be granted to play in the sugar bowl.

I agree with you, and i am glad you did not take my post as threatning...I truly enjoy talking college football with you and many others here. Can't wait for the annual college football post where we can all be homers and ride our teams sacks for a few days.

Doesn't sound like it was just for tattoos anymore. The news is worse for OSU with each piece of information. The question is, just how much worse can/will it get?

That is all the same information that was provided to the NCAA in tOSU's self report. There is nothing new here at all. Many of the things listed on that are not considered violations. Plus much of the stuff he purchased through ebay and such places as well as former players

Again, this is not new news to the NCAA or OSU, this last piece that was released is what stemmed the investigation by tOSU compliance department and thus triggered the self report back in December.

I guess I missed the part where one player sold items for a SUV. I'm just hearing about that one.

I hate how this stuff drags out. We had to go through it with Rod. Just get it over with already.

Spielman DID say something to the effect that he didn't see how Tressel could stay on considering the accusations....

and Herbstreit went a bit further....

    What say you now???

That rumor may not be too far from the truth, or Spielman could also be in wait.... Either one would make a good replacement, yet one is a bit more "clean" than the other......

Agreed, and though I'm a BIG OSU fan, I'm not a BIG FAN of the dishonesty that has gone on.

Agreed Steve, agreed, but according to SOME people, I can't be a TRUE OSU FAN if I expect a program to be run HONESTLY with some INTEGRITY!!!

Surrounded by OSU fans in Central OHIO??? How'd you get in and where are you???

Please, never again quote anything that Kirk Herbsteit has to say regarding tOSU. I disowned him years ago. Pryor may be a PITA but he was spot on when he called Kirk a" fake a$$ buckeye".

Speilman will never be a head coach at tOSU, not because he isn't loved by the program and fans... But because he has no coaching credentials.

Urban Meyer isn't going to be coaching anywhere anytime soon. The entire country refuses to accept that he actually truly resigned because of his health.

I think Urban will coach again sometime, and Ohio State would be a likely landing spot. But why would he want to walk into the mess that tOSU is getting into? With looming sanctions, and no one knows how serious they could be, why would he put himself in that position when is health is what forced him to walk away in the first place?

I don't necessarily buy that he resigned strictly due to health reasons... Not long after he resigned he signed on with ESPN and was on the road again.

I do not know how I feel with the idea of Meyer ever coaching the bucks. I do know he is an outstanding coach. I just see all the problems he had with his recruits in FL. Insane amount of arrests of his student athletes. Sure these few kids from tOSU made some mistakes, at least they are not criminals.

I find it funny a guy with TP's character calling Kirk a non buckeye. Who do you think Woody would stand behind Kirk or TP ?

I don't think his health was 100% of the reason why he retired either. I would say it was 75 health, 25 being burned out on what it takes to be a college football coach. Meyer went full speed ahead for 6 years at Florida, and it caught up with him physically, mentally and emotionally.

As a huge Meyer fan, I wouldn't mind it too much he coach OSU sometime in the future, I just don't believe it will be anytime soon. As long as it isn't Notre Dame!

I also agree 100% about the arrests. Something like 30 arrests in his tenure , while Miami only had 4 or 5. It's a staggering number and it has bled over into the Muschamp era. Janoris Jenkins was kicked off the team this past week for his second marijuana arrest in two months. Two other Gators admitted to drug use and Marcus Gilbert (just drafted by the Steelers) tested positive for marijuana before the draft.

    What's with these kids?:poke:

TP has made some mistakes but you cannot question his loyalty to the Buckeyes, he practices hard and he plays hard. Kirk on the other hand is a fake buckeye. He has used and abused and has taken uncalled for pot shots at tOSU over the years.

Speaking of character, sure was a sweet character move punching the guy from Clemson on national tv.... I don't think Woody would have the right to judge anyone's character.
