There was a proshop that was in business forever near where I currently live (moved last summer) .. they went out of business and opened under new ownership.

It was open for about 1 month so I decided to give this new guy a shot ... I wanted a new loop on and to have my new metapeep put on .... the guy seemed nice (reminded me of Jesse James) He told me he would call me that night ....3 days later:confused:, I get a call from him telling me the loop is on and to call him about the peep. .... Turns out he doesn't have a press that will do parallel limbs

do I give this guy a break, or just start doing this stuff myself (limited space and funds)?

    "Proshops" ....... Paaaaalease:mad:

At least he was smart enough to not try and press your bow in a traditional style press.............;)

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've seen a single Dren dryfired a good 3-4 times with no damage at all, it was our shop demo bow. They are tough buggers.........:D

Edit - And yes......I would be doing this stuff on your own. If it's a lifetime hobby, your really going to save money and heartache in the long run. Let me know if your serious about starting to collect stuff, I'd be glad to help you build a list of "budget" items that will let you do 99% of things at home.

PT, I've been using a Ratchet-lok press on my Drenalin for a year now. Works great. They have them here at BH.com's store. I put in my meta peep last march. Put in my dad's last month too, and he has a split limb PSE.

For about $80, you can't go wrong. Just MHO.

Ah, no wonder. Now I get it.....:D

Well, that's a tough question. Did you inquire as to whether he would be getting one since half the bows out there now have parrallel limbs? I mean, if the guy is just starting up it's tough to have EVERYTHING he needs when he opens the doors but......He should have. And he DEFINETLY should have told you that when you dropped off the bow. I'm pretty sure he knew it then. ;)

I did ...he said he should be getting one next week .... but he has been open for a month .... you would think he would KNOW to have one of those ..... I look at the bows that are on the wall for service .... most are dinosaurs ... it's in the city ... could be why .....

I don't think he knew ...

I can't beleive you would have to leave the bow for a peep install. What's it take, all of a few minutes. That would have been my 1st clue.

Yeah I gotta say.......that's true. That's one of those jobs we do for our customers then and there. 5-10 minutes and we're finished.

Sorry to hear of your problems Tony...

Really, with the gang you've got here willing and able to help you out in learning how to do all the stuff you need to be able to do on your own equipment, I'd HIGHLY recommend taking advantage of our collective knowledge.

Surely you've seen my thread on tying your own d-loops on HNI, and if you have ANY questions after reading that, let me know. You'll notice it doesn't take any specialized equipment other than the d-loop material itself, and the nice thing about that is you can purchase enough to last you for YEARS for the same cost a shop would charge you to do it ONCE.

That's just one example... take advantage of Rick James's, TFOX's, Rob's, Bruce's, et al's experience here and save yourself TONS of money over the long haul -- and get the personal satisfaction that comes along with working on your own equipment! :)

You all have helped me sooo much on the basics of spine, FOC, heads, KE, etc....

I have made the decision to take your advice once again .... gonna get my own stuff and if I run into any issues, I'll bug the crap outta you guys :D

besides, like Bruce said, I will be able to teach Andrew as well.....
