Today my mother had a test at 10am which she was able to make. I received a follow up call around 3pm and the doctor said that my mother has a cardiac sarcoma, which is a malignant tumor of the heart. We are going in Monday at noon to see what our options are...searching the internet it appears not much other than what I will post below. I want to openly thank you for your prayers and support. This is a tough time for me, as it was my mother (if you can believe that) who inspired my love for the outdoors. She enrolled me in Conservation Camps, went to the Hunter Training Course and took me fishing. She is a blessing to our family. I also want to thank flapjack, for he has assisted me in being able to keep in touch with my mom while on my trip. This has been an answer to our prayers. Here may be an option An exciting new prospect for treatment of cardiac sarcoma is autotransplantation. Autotransplantation is a surgical procedure in which the patient's own heart is removed so that the tumor can be more completely and easily removed from the heart tissue. After the tumor is removed, the heart is replaced into the patient. Because the patient has not received a heart from another person, there is no need for immunosuppressive medications.
Sorry to hear elkhunt, I'll keep praying that things do work out for the best and your mom can make a complete recovery. Best of luck to your mom.
Rob, as I said in my first post about your mom's health, she will beat this.....keep the faith. Brett
She's a trooper and positive. We still have options, just not easy ones. I hoped for an easy out, but our action plan will be decided on Monday....however I am going to introduce her to the Primo's Truth About Hunting tonight, she can't complain, she bought me my first 12 gauge Winchester 1300 Ranger, and a Bear Compound Bow Package. She will find her way into this years hunting video........without a doubt....
