Not exactly what my Dad was looking for but will take it. He shot this yesterday evening with his Excalibur crossbow. Not sure how much he weighed but he is not the biggest one we have seen. I do have a question for those here that know anything about hogs.

This is the first year we have seen them at this particular farm. We have hunted it now for 4 years and have cuddebacks in several locations. Normally in a week we will have 1000 + pics of deer and turkeys. This year however we have gotten maybe an average of 50 in a week. I saw 8 or 9 pigs at this farm yesterday evening as well. Here is my question - Would these hogs have an effect on the deer in the area and cause them to relocate? I know they can be dangerous with there tusk and they are destructive on crops. This farm is know for seeing 100 deer or more while spotlighting but now you may see 1/3 of that. Just curious b/c I don't really know anything about wild pigs. We have never had them before.

First off, tell your Dad congrats! That looks like some good eatin'! :)

I'm no hog expert by any stretch of the imagination, but from all I know about them is they compete directly for the exact same food sources. The acorns that would have fed your deer herd are probably now being scarfed up by the hogs.... It would stand to reason that the deer would move on looking for easier pickings...

YES, those hogs will have an adverse affect on your deer, and I'll be down first part of next week with an eradication plan and a smoker...... :D

We've seen sign of some moving in on our lease. I'm hoping to whack one this year.
