I have many friends here and many of you know I am very active with my kids.Well,my son is big into baseball and has had 1 fantastic season. Tonight he played in a Cal Ripken state tournament with his all-star team and they won their 2nd state title together. They are 11 now and won the other when they were 8. They scored 31 runs and gave up 5 in 3 games,My son hit 2 homeruns in the 3 games and going back to the regular season has hit 4 in the last 6 games and has a total of 7 for the year. In a couple weeks they are headed for the regionals in Logansport In. Wish them luck.
Awesome, Todd!! You and I have spoken many times about our involvement in our kids' lives, and I'm happy as can be for you. Tell him congratulations from me, and to keep it up! Mine won another big karate tournament up in St. Louis over the weekend... he's almost got the overall state championship locked up now. Keep the pics coming Todd!
You know I really look forward to moments like this in life. I just pray I am not going to be an absent father and workaholic. Tough balancing a hour to hour and half commute and working much. Good for you t.
Thanks everyone and Greg, tell your son congrats and good luck. I wish we would have the time and money for my son to compete when he was in TKO.He was a terror when he got his black belt and I truly feel he could have done quite well. Funny story,he was going to miss a baseball game to test for his BB.I packed his clothes just in case.He tested and it was a short testing session.(of course my son chose the hardest breaks so it wasn't a given he would get it)He showed up at the baseball right as it was about to start. If my memory serve me,he hit a homerun that game too. He had to spar his sister and teacher at the same time to earn it.
That's cool tfox.. congrats to the both of you. Someone once said that baseball was meant to be played by kids... adults just screw it up.
That is awesome! There is no better feeling in the world than seeing your child enjoy success at something they have worked hard for. I have coached little league for 12 years and wish your son continued success. Great job young man!
Thanks guys,I am more proud of his defense right now more than anything. He played left field all season and didn't work infield but just a couple times all season(except preseason, where he was being practiced at short, but needed outfielder). His best position is 3rd base and that is where he played travel ball last summer. The team really needed a 3rd baseman. They just didn't know how well he played it and they THOUGHT they new who they wanted to be there until he got a chance in practice just a couple days before the 1rst game. They couldn't get a ball past him and the spot was his. I was worried that he might not know what to do but he stepped right back into it just like he had been doing it all season. Not a single error and even a couple of great plays. The catcher and He even teamed up to get a kid leading off 3rd. I hope it holds up for just a couple more weeks.
