Nope.. or it could be. I'm actually looking for some help in finding a bow (new or used) for my father. Here is the situation. 1. He is aging but, not old. 2. He struggles to pull bows back as they get close to the 60 lb mark. I would say something around 50 - 55 would be max for comfort. 3. He can't use a release to save his live and enjoys fingers. 4. He does not shoot past 25 yards and likely not even past 20 yards. The last few years he has struggled finding a comfortable bow to hunt with due to the above. Is anyone else in this category or situation? Any recomendations would be great. I'm not looking to drop 800 bucks on a new bow for him however, open to suggestions. Something easy to pull and finger friendly.
get something with a longer ATA due to being a finger shooter (or spend time training him on a release)... 34" ata would be the absolute minimum I'd go for fingers and I'd try to find somethin a bit long if I could... my first instinct would be to find a used bowtech commander... fine shooting modern bow with 37" ATA... should be able to find a nice used one easily.... jmho
Thanks. I was thinking about lowering my old Oneida down to say 50 and seeing how he would fair. ...only bummer is that I was going to hunt with it this year. I will see what that can be lowered to. If it works for him, great. If not. Will look or something longer in the ATA as you mentioned.
maybe look at a trad bow? you can certainly find some real decent bows here that might fit the criteria.
