Yesterday evening was the 1st time I've shot my recurve since June 20th and man did It show. [IMG] Earlier this spring my elbow had some pain In It so I went to the doctor to see what the deal was and I was told I had golfers elbow. Golfers elbow Is just like tennis elbow, just a different spot In the elbow where the Inflammation Is. Anyway the doctor told me no more shooting bow for as long as I dare can, he actually said 3 months but I told him BS on that one. I figured I'd let It rest till about the 1st week In August and then start shooting again to get ready for my bear hunt September 1st here In Mn. My shooting was absolutely horrible!! My form sucked terribly, I was down right embarrassed with my shooting and pissed off at the same time. [IMG] My recurve felt like I was drawing 90lbs, my muscles really caught hell for not shooting and I'm sure the Injury wasn't helping anything either. Shooting these traditional bows as often as one can sure Is critical, I proved that point for myself. I've been shooting recurves all my life so It doesn't matter how long a person has been shooting one of these bows, these types of bows call for practice and lots of It If you want to be good and proficient. Earlier this summer I was shooting the best I've shot In years, In a matter of almost 2 months It's all gone. Frustrating It Is!! I've got 3 weeks to get It back, I'll get It back but not sure If I will be at the level I was before earlier this year confidence wise.

Steve, when the doctor said no shooting did he also mean no drawing the bow? Or maybe drawing reduced weight (therabands)? I'm guessing it was your bow elbow and the impact that your elbow was experiencing that made it so sore. It maybe your bow, position of your grip, or position of your bow arm that could be the culprit. Or maybe we're just getting old. :-)

You'll get it back in any case, just don't shoot while your frustrated.

No doubt Bob It's 100% form related. My arrow flight shows It, not good. It sure Is crazy though on what taking a break can do. I don't think I can ever remember shooting this bad after not shooting for a while. I'll get It back though, not worried In the least. I'm sure happy whitetail season Is as far away as It Is. The one nice thing about bear hunting where I do, most shots are In that 12 to 13 yard range.

Steve, you'll get it back, don't worry! You had to take the time off or you could of done serious damage to your elbow! Is it healed fully???

Nope! The doctor proscribed some sort of cortisone pills to take. I finished that up the other day, It's much better but not gone by any means.

    Russ,

The string showed up Saturday, thanks mate! I haven't even taken It out of the package yet.

Go at it easy and make sure you don't hurt yourself.. you've got plenty of time and it will come back to you, you've got the experience, you know what to do..

The bale is a fantastic tool, I'm an avid believer in it. Used in conjunction with the bale probably one of the best tools I've ever used is the Bridge... It a fantastic method of improving one's shooting ability and it's flexible to fit each person's current ability and where they want to go with their shooting.

I believe it's the quickest tool I've ever seen to make improvement.. if you're interested we can talk about it and I'll explain how I use it.
