So today was not a good day in the stand for me. I had all my best scent elimination gear on, and cover scents activated but I don't know about you guys or have had this happen to you, but the wind was swirling all around me. It would start out coming from the north, then the east, then the north again, then west, then south and continued like that all day long. What do you guys do in these scenarios, I could not pick a stand out of three that this didn't happen in. Any suggestions on days like this...besides not hunting LOL?

You nailed it. Go home ! Don't gamble on wrecking your spot live to fight another day :D It took me 3 stands tonight to find one that the wind behaved at.

I shot my biggest buck during a day with swirling winds , out here in Southern Indiana if you packed it in due to swirling winds you would never hunt ........lol.........i use a product called Smell Like A Deer from a buddy of mine Farron Mastin www.mastinsdeerscents.com , sprayed on my boots and spray some on a few scent wicks up by my stand , if you heard of Deer Dander this stuff is way better in my honest oppinion .

    Bear,

That usually happens to us when we near creek....bottom ground.
Gusty windy days is when we experience this going on!
We'll pull out and hunt out farther from the low ground when this happens depending on the wind.
Have many sets for the situation.
Sometimes go in calm and it kicks up nothing to do but finish hunt! Try another day pay attention to the wind direction and speed. Remember when you hunt that set. Rut don't matter got "Split Tail" on mind.

Hoosier I purchased some smell like a deer from your friend Mastin so I am definitely going to give that a shot. I think the consensus was to leave the field in order to fight another day so that is what I did and I hope that my spot isn't ruined now but I guess only time will tell. Thanks for the advice...Hoosier how much should I apply to my clothing, equipment, wicks etc?!?
