but some how I did better this year then ever at the annual Father's Day Traditional Shoot here In Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Since 2006 I think It Is my brother and I along with my dad (Love ya pops, happy Father's Day) and other traditional bow hunting buddy's of ours have been going to this traditional only 3-d shoot. The last 2 years I've really gotten technical and very much so have studied the art of traditional archery. With the help of Russ Barber (Kanga) I've learned a ton on the tech side of traditional bow's. Recently (this year) I tried a lesser spine with FMJ's. My original choice of arrows were 340's but they've gotten a tad stiff due to loss of draw weight In my warren out recurve of 16 years.

This year I switched to 400 FMJ's recently and had a shaky start to this. I PMed Bruce on here on a couple of question's I wanted his opinion on regarding arrow flight. Whether or not you agree on something there's nothing better then getting opinions and Bruce Is a good one to ask as his knowledge Is very good. Bruce gave me good Info, pretty much what I already knew but that's why I asked. Thank you Bruce, your a good man!! Anyhow I did a few adjustments and off to the traditional shoot I went.

I ended up scoring my best score ever at this particular shoot. Last year I shot my best score ever (985) ranking #7 out of 85 adult recurve shooters In the recurve class and tied 7th out of 190 traditional shooters all together that turned scores In. I'm not a competitor with others but damn I was Impressed as I never thought I'd rank that high. This year I shot a 1015. I couldn't believe It!! Here's the weird part, I should've shot better. Best possible score out of 60 targets Is a 1280. Our whole group (8 of us) shot good but most Importantly we had a blast. That right there Is what It's all about (having fun). I cannot lie, I'm looking forward to seeing how I ranked In this years shoot. ;)

Thanks Fitz and Bruce. We definitely had a great time. Shooting good was just a plus. There was two 1/4 Inch thick metal targets with the vitals cut out at this shoot. Both targets were at 15 yards, I went 1 for 2. Wrecked the end of my 400 FMJ but I believe the rest of the arrow Is fine. Good times!!! :)
