Just wondering what the deer activity is like in Northern Illinois. Going out this weekend.

New addition: How is the rut coming along?

Tomorrow and all of next week should be real good days with this cold front that has finally come in!!! I was planning on being out today and again tomorrow but truck trouble has changed my plans. Where in Northern IL are you at?

Very cool. I spend alot of time at my girlfriends place in Wonder Lake. Just wish we had somewhere to hunt closer to her place.

It has been pretty slow for me as well, but the corn was still up and I believe they where hunkered in there not to mention all the rain we have had. I did get a call this morning from my buddy that the corn was cut, and he had a deer come through right before shooting light. I am going out tonight, hopefully something crosses my path. I am in Huntley in the bow only section :) . With this cold front and cut corn it should make for some moving deer. Good luck guys!

I hunt just south of Huntley off Rt. 47. Didn't get out last weekend bc had people in town. But I will be in stand tomorrow by 630am and again at 3pm and again Sunday. We will see, I hope that this 45 degree change in 48hr cold front gets everything moving moving. I havent seen a deer in the stand this year only 300 yds away while walking back to the car lol. Dress warm, going to be a chilly A.M.

I got out last night and saw 5. Had a spike come in to a grunt 10 feet from my tree. The other 4 where doe. My buddy is currently tracking an 8 that he shot this morning. He has good red blood with bubbles in it. I will post a pic when he sends it. Corn was cut 2 days ago. Things are heating up!

It seems to be picking up now in the NW. I have been seeing deer and turkeys every sit just no big bucks yet. My trail cams have been showing a lot of youngsters after dark sparring so its starting.

Was out yesterday morning and 3 small bucks and a doe came through. Went out last night at a different spot and watched a couple of bucks sparring about 90 yards away, I had to watch them through a very thick fenceline and could not tell how big
they were for sure but the 1 looked like a possible shooter. Now if he would just come on the other side of the fence so I could
get a better look at him.:)

Went out this afternoon about 5:00 a nice 8 pointer came out and fed in the clover field and about 10 minutes later a doe came out with him, they hung around each other till dark but I didn't see him getting agressive towards her. I haven't seen any bucks cruising yet.

Hunting near Rockton, IL and have not seen any chasing activity, though we have someone on the adjacent property that has kept messing with his stand (not hunting though) and is trudging right through the deer bedding area. Think it is making the deer in the area nocturnal. Hopefully the upcoming rut activity will overpower their tendency to be nocturnal due to human activity.

Went out Sat. morning and saw two does along with a good buck from what I could see. It was just getting light out when I saw him, couldn't tell what he was but looked wide from what I could see. Went out Sat. afternoon and saw two does. Didn't see too much this weekend but looks like they are starting to move. Wish I could get out again but I am back at college and won't be back till thanksgiving week and weekend.
