the deer are bigger in the north because they have to be big and tough to survive the cold weather. all the small wimpy ones who cant handle a little cold move to the south where its warmer. much like the southern hunters....
So.... when can we expect you to arrive? There's a "shak" just up the road for rent and the realtor's open for "bussinuss" 24/7. You'll like it here. Our deer "heards" are "deases" free.
The Germans kept my grandfather in a POW camp for 6 years, I don't dislike all Germans. He was captured in France. The French I can do without.
Do a little research on the web you will find that rates of obesity are higher in southern states versus the north
I have to agree with my northern friend here. Come spend some time in the Memphis area and it'll really open your eyes - or it may make you keep them closed. I can't say for sure which effect it will have on you. It really depends on your constitution. Besides, northern girls aren't really fat. They've just got that winter coat going on. Come spring when they come out of hibernation it's all gone anyway.
Yankees have ''ALWAYS''been better shots than yall......look how that Civil War worked out 4 yall........ ,,,,,Just Kiddin We're all Americans........
Well this sure is a heated little debate isn't it... My dads family is from West Virginia ( Richwood to be exact) and my moms family is from North Carolina (Dallas to be exact) and I, myself, am from Illinois. Hands down, Illinois and the rest of the midwest have larger (both in weight, and in antler size) deer; no brainer. Number one reason, food sources, and less pressure. Per square mile, there are less hunters and more food. By the way, the south will not rise again, as much as I believe in southern values and the way of life, it aint gonna happen.
I've been sort of laughing to myself at some of the responses. I thought this was originally about deer size. Almost without fail the further north you go the bigger the land dwelling animals get. I read something on this recently but I can't recall what it said. I know it had something to do with the fact that larger body mass retains more heat which enables them to survive the harsher winters. Makes perfect sense to me. And no, that doesn't apply to humanity. We've adapted our personal "climates" to suit us.
Charlie d I love you tn boys-to you're best spokesman- the cdb- "be proud you're a rebel, cause the south gonna do it again! -good night.
You are correct. It is more efficient for larger animals to withstand colder temperatures (i.e. polar bears, caribou, wooly mammoth, etc.). Smaller animals are better at dissipating heat. It is all related to surface area-to-mass ratios. A smaller animal will retain less heat than a larger one because there is a little mass which means the ratio of surface area in comparison to the mass of the animal is larger. C'mon guys, simple biothermal dynamics.
