Are you talking about the map you posted? C'mon, look at it! It's obvious that Tennessee is in the south-east quadrant of the continental United States. It's also very apparent that Michigan and Ohio are way, WAY up there in the north-east quadrant. Even if you divided it into thirds, thereby establishing the required "Mid" section that would allow for the "mid-west", they would still be in the east. Again.... Tennessee - - - SOUTH - east. Michigan and Ohio??? NORTH-EAST! :D :D :D
According to the government, Michigan and Ohio are Mid West. So they are in fact Mid West. It doesn't make much since looking at the map but, when does the government make much since??
Maybe the only way to settle this North vs. South thing is by having a contest this year. Total inches, oh wait we can't do that that's not fair to the south. Average buck size... oh wait that's not fair either... I've got it, total number of teams under NCAA investigation by the end of next season... that might be a good race.
I don't know. The geographic center of the continental United States might be in Lebanon, Kansas, but I haven't figured out the moment of inertia of the populace of the continental United States. I think that would give a better indication of the true regional dispersion of people across the land mass.
Okay, I can't argue with that. Sure can't argue with that. How about total number of deer taken?:D You can put me down for seven or eight.
Michigan and Ohio are in the Midwest, I do not want to live in the South, NE, or west. We rule, the south is good for golf in the winter and spring break wet T=shirt contest The Best live in the midwest, I am talking deer and people
I'm sure that's one thing that the North and the South have in common. I would think though that a wet T-shirt contest that far north could result in a few cases of hypothermia.
I think that would be a great idea. Then again would that take away from the fun and excitment of the contest for the forum? I would say by weight. I am not sure but, that may not be fair either due to it seems most southern states have a higher tag limit. Here in NC we get six tags a year then we can buy more doe tags. You get two hunters choice, two antlerless, and two for either. I have 5 left for this season before I renew my license in November. $10.00 for three tags I think it is for the extras and as far as I know there are no limits on buying extra tags. Guess it really doesn't matter considering you have to fill the ones you get first. Anyone else have any ideas on scoring?
For weight the North's does are about the size of the souths Bucks, that should be fair On a serious note, it's impossible to compare the regions. The North has bigger deer and most of the south has more deer and more tags. I think the fact we both love hunting and enjoy ribbing each other shows what true hunters we are on this board.
Are you from the midwest? We dont consider anyone on the otherside of the big pond as a mid westerner.
there's a reason we dug that big mote! As long as we're talking about Michigan, Why did they get the U.P.? When are they going to get a pro football team?
They got the U.P. because Ohio kicked their tails in the battle over Toledo in 1835. The U.S. government felt so bad for the poor suckers they gave them the U.P. as a consolation prize.
