Just bow hunted in snow for the first time ever this morning. Had a nice 6 or 8 come in about 35 yards in the brush but wouldnt give me a good shot. This was at 10 a.m. too. Saw a doe walking right out in the field at 9 a.m. This cold weather and snow definitely got them moving. Now it looks like we're getting some MAJOR snow! A lot of places might see over a foot. This kind of thing never happens in southern new england this time of year. It's not even Halloween! I am soooo pumped for this. What are everyones thoughts on what this might do to the rut? http://boston.cbslocal.com/photo-galleries/2011/10/28/weekend-noreaster-forecast-maps/#photo-204451
I personally do not find it fun walking through a foot or more of snow to my stand. It may even deter deer from moving to far, especially if it is over a foot. Deer movement is what the rut is all about, for bow hunting anyway, so anything that prevents that makes me negative.
We're not getting quite a foot so it should be prime. Theres nothing like stalking a whitetail in the snow! Never done it with my bow before though.
