    Hi everybody,
I'm a new hunter looking to get into bow hunting. I've got a good archery shop near me and was looking at their inventory last week. They had a Parker Blaze RTH package for $425. It looked like a nice bow and from what I've read around the web, most modern bows are pretty good quality. My one concern was that it wasn't very comfortable in my hand. There was a moderately sharp corner on the grip that hit my hand funny. Is this something that can be corrected with proper technique or by changing the grip like a pistol? My budget is $500-$600 plus arrows and a release. Appreciate any feedback.

Keep shooting other bows. Find one that feels right. If you're gonna spend that much cash, you owe it to yourself to shoot as many as you can.

Exactly. Don't settle. If you've got a decent sized budget (you do) keep shooting until you find one that's comfortable.

Hey man regardless of whatever set you get, I know you are going to love shooting it once you have a chance..I'm a brand spanking new hunter and brand spanking new bow shooter as well. Just started 2 weeks ago. It is scary how accurate these modern compounds are. There are quiet a lot of seasoned vets on this forum, don't hesitate to ask any question no matter how silly you think it sounds.

Thanks everybody for the advice. I agree with the 'wait and see' approach. From reading a bunch of other posts it did seem like, to paraphrase Harry Potter, the bow chooses the hunter. I think the shop I'm dealing with will steer me right too. Last thing I want to do is turn a $400 bow into a $1000 bow because I have to spend another $600 buying the one I should have gotten in the first place. Thanks again.

last summer my friend gave me a hoyt from '97 and I went to the archery shop to get it outfitted with a sight and rest for
$100. The bowtech in the store said he'd see me soon and sell me a new bow. Well I wasn't about to spend any more money right then. Sure enough at the end of the season I was so hooked on archery and hunting I was back in the shop buying an $850 Bowtech invasion. What I'm saying is definately buy the bow you want to shoot for awhile even if it means saving a little more dough. It is also important to buy the bow from the person/shop that you like and trust. It seems like shops don't like working on bows that they didn't sell. Good luck.

Hello Iam a avid bowhunter and my advice would be this shoot as many bows as you can get your hands on and buy the highest end bow that your budget will allow archery is one thing that you get what you pay for I've shot hundreds of bows and now hunt with a mathews switchback xt which for me is an awesome bow that is perfect for me try going to a pro shop before you settle on a main stream bow and you might be surprised the deffernce you will find in the bows they sell compared to larger chain stores much better quality bows come from pro shops wish you all the luck in the world and hope you continue to enjoy hunting and the outdoors god bless Robert Hawkins

It took me a while to find the right bow, but once you do find the right one you'll know it! Best of luck to you and welcome to the obsession!
