Awesome footage. I have got to try that someday. Did you regret not being able to shoot the non-typical?

Nice footage. Was the leg healed over or was it fresh?

You noticed that too, huh? It sure looked like the wound area was really dark and the deer didn't look at all accustomed to moving on three legs. You could see him still trying to use his left hind leg.

Pretty sure that wound is old but the buck was gimping so bad because he was chasing does around and was pooped out. The non-typical on a side is what makes me think it was an old injury.

Nice job with the footage Deb! I'm impressed! You guys should have seen how jumpy it was when we watched it on the video camera.

No, honestly I dont regret not being able to shoot him. I was kind of rooting for him hoping he would survive the rut and the long winter since it appeared as though he had already had a run of bad luck and I was very happy with the buck I took.

Greg, I think IMO that the buck might have incurred the injury the previous year, thats why he is still trying to use it some and the fact that the right side grew non typical, if you also notice he has still been using the severed limbs tarsal gland to urinate on, its black , I dont belive he would do that if the wound was fresh.
The whole time I was video taping him he was guarding a hot doe trying to herd her off to a secluded area away from other bucks.
