Long time reader, just got an account. I'm an avid Hunter and just really getting into bowhunting. Also, just getting into applying for hunts out west. Was wondering what states y'all would recommend building preference points in. Being a college student budget is in mind. My main goal would be to build points for a decent unit for either deer or elk while doing OTC hunts in the mean time. I know some states it will take 10-15 years to get a decent tag. This year I was going to get a deer and elk preference point in Colorado. In Wyoming I would also get a deer and elk point. Was gonna also do Pronghorn in WY too. Do you guys think I should be applying somewhere else? All info is appreciated. Thanks!
If you're applying for CO its due tomorrow at 8pm mountain time. I just got my points the other day and also WY. Hopefully this new point system will weed people out and get them to cash in their points and make some units easier to draw. The units that take 15 now probably unattainable for someone like me that just started gathering points, i'll never draw them in my lifetime. I'd rather cash in at 3 points for something more exclusive than OTC. Trying to set it up some i'm drawing something different every year for instance a hunting rotation like CO elk year 1, CO deer year 2, AZ elk year 3, WY elk year 4, then repeat while buying points in the seasons I'm not hunting the other species/states. Haven't narrowed down the rotation yet
ARIZONA! I scored elk tags in the Kaibab 3 times in my 1st five years applying.. this being my 3rd year.
