Like I stated earlier,I first heard of Keb Mo from my cousins band.I have no idea where he found him but he was in the music industry. I found out about Dean Hall at a local bar.Just so happened he is Tom T Hall's son.Back then he was strictly blues rock and dared anyone to try to get him to do his dad's songs or country. My wife doesn't even like that kind of music but when he walked around the room and was using bald men's head for a slide for his guitar, she was impressed by him. Seems he is selling out a bit,but he has to pay the bills as well.Don't blame him at all.He has talent, might as well share it.
Well, I guess I'll just wait for these threads to keep popping up so I can actually hear some good music. Keep em coming guys.
Okay, I just discovered Black Keys a few minutes ago but this song is great! Actually, I'm liking all that I've listened to so far. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6QBjqw84R8&feature=related And this one.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOdBy_eiDXM&feature=related
Youtube is great. We can find music that might not be on the charts but is definately some of the best stuff ever recorded. Here is some GREAT stuff from some famous artist doing a tribute to 1 of the best non mainstream guitarist of all time.He was famous but imo not mainstream. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pb9HZIdvpoY
The Black Keys are one of the biggest bands in the world right now. They are hardly low key, and I'm really shocked that some of you guys have never heard them before. Well, you have heard them, because they are on many commercials at the moment, you just didn't know it was The Black Keys. That being said, they are still one of the best bands (and one of my favorites) right now. I always roll my eyes when someone says this, but they truly were grittier in their earlier albums. I was thinking about creating my top 10 songs of 2010 thread later, but I'll just do it in this thread this afternoon. I have to go save the planet right now.
the woman who sings with my dad is the aunt of one of the black keys guys They are cool, you might also dig the kickdrums
yeah they are kinda like muse... I never knew i liked muse, or had even heard muse. but they are everywhere
My three year old is a big Black Keys fan. He jams everytime the Zales commercial comes on, and tells me "Its the Black Keys!"...everytime. You know, just in case I forgot the first 20 times.
The difference between the mainstream country scene and the low key guys is just as drastic as any other genre. CMT makes me vomit in my mouth and anything on the radio is an absolute insult of the eardrums. There is a lot of good country music that is a far cry from the Wrangler wearing d-bag with **** eating grin and a fake southern accent that we normally see representing country music. Give this a shot Vito, let me know what you think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFY1T-ePimY
I agree, that does sound different than the Kenny Chesneys of the music world. Its sounds closer to surfer type folk music to me, a northerner. The stuff L2D posted early wasn't half bad either. I'm just not a country music fan. I'm probably in the minority on a bowhunting site. Maybe one day I will get a pickup, throw a 18" lift kit and some mudders on it, maybe a confederate flag across the rear cab window, and jam some country tunes. Easy rednecks, I was just kidding. The lift kit would obviously be 24"+.
It is easy to understand how a person could not like country music. It is a very specific genre and it is an aquired taste. Much in the same way that I am not very fond of most of the other things posted in this thread.....except Mumford and Sons, they are pretty cool. Different strokes for different folks.
Yup, there is music out there for everyone. Its not like I hate country music, its just not my thing. I have been known to say things for shock value though, on occasion.
It's all good. that is why there is so much music out there. Everyone is different. Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney's old stuff is good, but their new stuff is horrible. I immediately shut those jokers off now. I hope this is not considered highjacking ( I am new to forums), but I was forced to listen to country when I did landscaping in college. As the other brother put it, it is an acquired taste. I grew to love it back then. Good discussion...
Here's another good one. The video is actually amusing too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIn1NECpV10&feature=channel
