I'm looking to get an ar-10 I think they would be fun to get into considering the mass amount of hogs I have at my property an decent brands out there between 1000-1300$?

As you say, not a bowhunting topic and perhaps should be in another section like water cooler maybe but I'll give you my take.

I am not a fan of the AR10. Too heavy for a hunting rig in my opinion and with the alternate caliber options for the AR15 not necessary for the game animal you are chasing. The AR15 platform would give you much more flexibility for caliber choice and would be cheaper to purchase and shoot than the AR10. I have a couple of AR15's in .223 and one in a .243 WSSM and I'm putting together a 300 BLK. Each have a different purpose. I would not hesitate to take the .243 deer or hog hunting. They make a 450 that had hog hunting specifically in mind. I would seriously consider the AR15 platform due to less initial cost, much lower weight, more flexibility and a greater diversity of parts. Just my opinion.

Whatever you do, go for a smaller caliber like the .458 socom :p
