I haven't tried the Lumenocs yet and there is a good chance I will not. Now on the other hand I do have a few of the Nocturnals. They seem to be a good nock. The weight is good, easy to install, and they fly well. They can be alittle hard to turn off, but after a few times not to bad. Just make sure you get the right nock for your arrow shaft. I like mine. Hope this helps.

Nocturnals! They are mechanical in nature which equal less failures!

I use Luminok's. Haven't had any problems. I'm not familiar with how the nocturnals operate. I don't know how you could get a simpler more reliable design than the Luminok.

    i use firenocks

i have been using firenocks for a while now and they work really well. i like that they are turned on and off by momentum. all you do to turn them off is drop the nock end on something hard. now, you do not have to drop them hard. i turn them off by droping them from 6 inches onto the steel toe portion of my work boot. they have always turned on upon firing and are still working after a year and a half of practice. havent been able to use them on any game yet :(

I have used both Nocturnals and Lumenoks... and I prefer the Lumenoks. Now mind you - you have to have the arrow squared and the contact of the nock working properly (that's why so many people don't like them and have them not work). Once that is completed - no problem! I NEVER had a failure from a Lumenok, but I had a buddy suggesting trying the Nockturnals... so I purchased a pack. They seem to be a good product but I found them to be less robust than the Lumenoks. I shot them several times at my target and never had an issue... however - I had all of them break while hunting woodchucks this past month. After experiencing that... I went back to Luminoks and I'm staying! Hope this review helps in your decision making.

    Good luck this year!

I used lumenoks last year and had a problem on extremely humid mornings where they would stay slighty lit...I may have just not pulled them out/off enough or a defect with those particular ones...I bought some nocturnals this year and I have to say I like them better..as said before, they're a little tricky to turn off at first but once you get the hang of it your golden!

I also have Firenocks. Never tried any other brands. They work flawlessly for me. There was a great article in one of the latest issues of Peterson Bowhunting where they compared 6 different ones. If I remember right it showed that Lumenoc and Firenock were the ones to go with. But I would grab that and read it. Really good article.

I've tried both and like the Nocturnals alot more. They are just so much more simple and IMO they stay lit longer. I also believe they weigh less. That's just my experience.

    Blessings.......Pastorjim

I'd skip both and go with the Firenock.

Between the two you listed, I'd go with the Lumenok. I wasn't a fan of the switch mechanism on the Nockturnals. IMO it's a pain to get them to turn off.

In the next couple of weeks I'm going to test out 5 major brands of lighted nocks and post my results. I'll be testing the Nockturnal, Lumenok, Firenock, Tracer and Carbon Express Laser Eye. Whichever one I like best will end up being the one that's on my arrow come October.

I will look forward to reading that. I have used the nocturnal for a couple years now with no problems at all. No mind you I don't shoot them day in and out and only keep them on the arrows I hunt with.
