Last year, I finally joined the cool club and started using Nockturnal lighted nocks. 4 deer later, I won't hunt without them now.

So... a few weeks ago, while at my local shop, I grabbed another pack, so I had some extras for the upcoming season. I never opened them, just tossed them in my arrow case. Last night, I finally had a bit of time to prep all of my arrows that I would be using or potentially using for the next few months. I had some left over from last year and used those, testing each on before installing it. Quiver loaded. I decided to make up a few more arrows to keep in the case. I like to build a half dozen complete arrows, with broadheads and all so that I can spin them and have them at the ready in case I need them.

I opened the new pack of Nockturnals and immediately noticed they're different than the ones I bought last year. These are a bit longer, have little tabs on each side of the nock and feel a bit beefier. A quick check on the scale showed they're in fact 6 grains heavier than the ones I had from last year.

I'm going to email Rage. I heard about someone else having issues with them. I don't have any issues so far, I just want to confirm these are correct also inform them that they're quite a bit heavier than the 20gr they state on the package.

They are aware already. Beefed them up because there was a few that was busting.

I had an issue with them. They are certainly different than years past. The quality has diminished. My 3 year old Nocturnals still work flawlessly. The new ones...not so much. They didn't make past one round of shooting. Some didn't make it past the install. Nocturnal did fully reimburse me though, so I was very happy with their customer service.

I had one fail on me, I can't blame the nock because I left them on long after they were dead on my practice arrows, couple hundred shots later it broke when I hit the release. Lucky no damage to the bow.

I must be the luckiest guy on earth when it comes to lighted nocks.

So Derek, did you go with a different brand, or just ditch the lighted all together?

I'm just a little bummed out that they changed so much. I should have looked into it before buying them. My bad. Changing them is fine if it will fix a problem. I just don't like the fact that they're heavier and longer over all. I need to shoot these to make sure they don't change anything on my setup compared to the old ones. Not what I wanted to worry about a week before season....
